Moving forward with the strategy of the connected trip and the current organization structure, the FP&A team is at the forefront of implementing these changes to allow for the increasing complexity of decision making and transparency to happen in a timely manner. We offer a dynamic, motivating and sophisticated work environment. A culture that is open, innovative and performance orientated. Our scale and scope, commitment to people and high standards of integrity make Booking.com a great place to work.

If you would like to be part of a truly international company and finance team, if you think you can make a difference, have a closer look at this job opening.

The role

In this Senior Financial Analyst, Attractions role you will be part of a dynamic, international and fast-paced team, working in the scope of the Trips department and the Attractions vertical. This position is based in our HQ in Amsterdam and will report to the Manager of FP&A, Flights & Attractions.

This position offers the opportunity to drive financial decision making within Booking.com. You will be required to provide strong financial and analytical support to your business unit (BU) or department’s stakeholders. You will have to bridge what the data tell you and how that could help decision-making on a wide array of topics. You will be supporting the planning and forecasting cycles for both financial and operational business metrics. This includes revenues, expenses and other important KPIs; it also includes non-financial metrics and driver metrics of performance. You will also be involved in reporting versus budget and forecast and support on ad-hoc analyses whenever there is a need from the business.

Specific to this Senior Financial Analyst, Attractions role, you will work in a team with one Junior Financial Analyst. Your span of work will be across all the Attractions vertical; you will also support the wider Trips BU FP&A team and the entire FP&A sub-department on cross functional projects.

Your role and the immediate team of colleagues will focus on the commercial performance of the Attractions vertical down to contribution margin - from commercial-relationships with suppliers to topline-P&L (revenue, direct costs, contribution margin), to volumetric / non-financial indicators (conversion, bookings, cancellations, etc.) to the overall demand/supply dynamics of the verticals that drive the underlying growth of our businesses. You will work collaboratively with the horizontal FP&A teams (who own Marketing, Marketplace, and Fintech costs and revenues) to incorporate their responsibilities into a full vertical view for Attractions. You will work collaboratively with the other vertical FP&A teams (Accommodations, Ground Transport, Flights, Insurance, Etc.) to ensure cross-vertical and cross-sell effects are understood and modelled effectively.

The role will also work in partnership with the Commercial Programs & Excellence team, the Business Process and Optimisation team, the Corporate FP&A functions, and Data teams, to invest in improved systems, models, and processes within Attractions - modernising the analytics and process we run in Attractions, aligning to the rest of the Booking.com, utilising Anaplan and Onestream as much as possible.

Due to the continuous evolution of the organization, the tasks and duties of this role will evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and challenge yourself to take on additional projects and responsibilities as they present themselves. This role requires a dynamic and proactive person with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support with forecasting, variance analysis and reporting of financial performance;
  • Contribute to robust, scalable and insightful reporting of the business unit or department’s key metrics;

  • Provide analytical support and contribute to strategic decision making;
  • Continuously seek ways to improve and optimize the existing reporting to fit with evolving requests from senior management;
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis, scenarios and benchmarking as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Finance or other related field (preferred);
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role;
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills;
  • High attention to detail and ability to connect the dots and reconcile multiple data sources;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present to different audiences;
  • Self-driven mentality, proactively seeking to find solutions to problems and providing the best analytics possible to key decision makers;
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel;
  • Experience with SQL, data mining, Microsoft VBA and reporting tools;
  • Ability to understand, work with and proactively advise business partners;
  • Sees the headlines or big picture whilst having attention for the details;
