In this role you combine data engineering, real‑world engineering applications, and hands‑on international project work. You’ll have real ownership, broad responsibility, and the chance to work on cutting‑edge digital services solutions for airports across the globe. Such solutions include runway condition monitoring and digital twins. If you enjoy variety, learning fast, and making visible impact, this is a role where you can grow with the organisation.

Digital Services Engineer

What you do as a Digital Services Engineer

As a Digital Services Engineer, you will primarily work within the Runway Condition Reporting (RCR) team, alongside other digital projects. You combine programming, data engineering, and hands‑on technical work while helping to operate the RCR-Tool© service and further develop its capabilities. In this role, you link theoretical aspects of programming with practical solutions for real‑world use and operational environments.

Because the RCR team is relatively small, you play a key role in both executing technical work and coordinating activities across multiple stakeholders, such as colleagues, suppliers, and airport clients.

Your day‑to‑day work includes:

  • Building and improving data pipelines and software components
  • Working with sensor data and helping keep systems running smoothly
  • Providing operational support for existing clients
  • Supporting websites and backend services together with the team
  • Assisting with international RCR installations alongside colleagues and suppliers
  • Coordinating tasks and collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders to successfully complete activities

In addition to your RCR work, you also contribute to other digital and engineering initiatives, such as digital twin projects.

Where you will work

At NACO, our specialist aviation consultancy, you will work on innovative and impactful projects shaping airports around the world. Today, NACO is an integral part of Haskoning, allowing us to combine our specialised aviation knowledge with broader multidisciplinary expertise.

Haskoning is an independent, employee-owned international consultancy that combines engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology. Driven by our mission “Enhancing Society Together”, we work to create a positive impact on the world.

As our new Digital Services Engineer, you will become part of NACO’s Airport Asset Design advisory group in Delft. Together with approximately 50 colleagues, you will work on projects in the Netherlands as well as for international clients. You will collaborate closely with other teams within NACO and with colleagues across Haskoning. With over 230 colleagues from more than 40 nationalities at NACO, English is our working language. You will join a highly experienced and supportive team that is eager to help you grow and develop your career.

What you bring

You have a relevant educational background, for example in data engineering or an engineering discipline related to aviation. This may include studies such as computer science, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering or a closely related field. You bring a hands‑on, can‑do mindset and have a strong affinity with digitization and modern, data‑driven ways of working.

In addition, you have interest in and affinity with:

  • Aviation and aviation‑related engineering challenges
  • Data analytics, AI and programming, for example using Python and/or JavaScript
  • Sensor hardware and data acquisition: understanding how sensors work, how data is collected, processed and interpreted, and how this information is translated into dashboards and decision‑support tools

What we offer you

  • A solid foundation: A competitive base salary depending on the experience of €3,225 – €5,214 with annual increases.
  • An attractive compensation package: Including a strong pension scheme with an 18.3% employer contribution, a 2.15% personal budget, and annual profit sharing of 7,5%. You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase company shares and share in our success.
  • Work-life balance: 28 vacation days (based on full-time employment), with the option to purchase an additional 16.5 days per year and to exchange three public holidays for days that are personally meaningful to you. We work in a hybrid model with flexible hours, a home office allowance, and a fully equipped home workspace.
  • Development opportunities: A wide range of training and development programs, including tailored learning paths, learning weeks, and various knowledge-sharing groups.
  • NACO Academy: Access to over 100 aviation-focused courses through our in-house NACO Academy, designed to foster knowledge sharing, support personal development, and strengthen expertise in areas such as sustainability, design, and consultancy.
  • Travel allowance: A conveniently located workplace at our office in Delft, with travel expense reimbursement and an NS Business Card. If you walk or bike to work, you’ll receive a higher travel allowance—encouraging sustainable commuting.
  • Informal and inclusive culture: A welcoming and open environment with voluntary social and sports activities, and employee networks such as Pride and Young Haskoning.

We are an international organisation that makes a positive impact in our world by crafting top-notch solutions. Backed by the expertise of over 6,000 colleagues working from offices in more than 20 countries, and with more than 140 years of experience, we help clients with challenges ranging from climate change and digital transformation to changing customer demands and the energy transition.
