Job Description

Are you passionate about collaborative design, meaningful user experiences, and building world-class products from concept to creation?

About Canon Production Printing

Canon Production Printing has a strong legacy in product development, with innovations historically focused on printing and copying. Today, we are expanding into the world of graphic arts. With over 100 international design awards, our strength in product design is globally recognized. We actively collaborate with universities and contribute to international symposia to both share and evolve our expertise.

What You’ll Do

As an Industrial Product Designer, you translate Canon Production Printing’s brand equity into high-quality product designs where product identity, usability, and ergonomics are central.

You drive the design process from initial idea through to realized product. This includes generating, iterating, and communicating design concepts, and ensuring their successful implementation in close collaboration with engineering and product development teams.

You act as an ambassador of the user throughout the product development process. Together with project leaders, mechanical architects, and other key stakeholders, you define and shape compelling design concepts that clearly express the product vision.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Creating and refining product concepts that balance brand identity, usability, and technical feasibility
  • Developing models and prototypes to validate usability and design intent
  • Collaborating with architects and engineers to define, plan, and execute the implementation of validated concepts
  • Safeguarding design quality and intent throughout all development phases, including final realization
  • Contributing to the continuous evolution of Canon’s design vision in close alignment with our design colleagues in Tokyo

As part of our Research & Development organization, you work in multidisciplinary teams on the next generation of professional printing solutions. You continuously challenge the status quo and anticipate how technological developments will transform product experiences.

Who You’ll Work With

The CPP Design team (~20 professionals) is primarily based in Venlo and collaborates globally across CPP sites and with our design colleagues in Tokyo.

Our mission is to create high-quality products for professionals through one unified user experience across hardware, software, and services. The team brings together expertise in design research, UX design, product design, and usability design.

We operate in a highly collaborative environment with open and direct communication. Designers are encouraged to contribute beyond their formal role and actively shape outcomes through co-design. You will work on a wide variety of projects, ranging from fundamentally new concepts to iterative improvements of existing products.

What You Bring

You are passionate about product design, brand identity, and user experience, with a strong drive to bring designs to market. You take ownership, show initiative, and are motivated to deeply understand the users challenges and complexities in professional printing environments.

You combine creativity with strong communication skills, enabling you to align and convince stakeholders across both technical and business domains.

Furthermore, you meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Product Design
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process experience across multiple products (required with application)
  • Knowledge of production processes and materials, with a strong sense of aesthetic quality
  • Hands-on mindset; comfortable building mock-ups and prototypes to validate design decisions
  • Ability to manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working in international teams; fluent in English (Dutch is a plus)
  • Availability of at least 32 hours per week
  • Eligibility to work in the Netherlands

What You’ll Get From Us

We provide an exciting, dynamic work environment with plenty of opportunity for you to develop personally and professionally. We offer excellent conditions to help you be who you want to be:

  • Competitive salary aligned with experience and background
  • 38 vacation days
  • 13th month (8.6%), holiday allowance (8%), and commuting allowance
  • Hybrid working model for work-life balance
  • Extensive training and development opportunities
  • Laptop and smartphone
  • Attractive lease (e-)bike plan

Please note: applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
