About Praxa Sense

We are Praxa Sense, a young and ambitious MedTech startup located in Delft. Our team is developing ALIS™, an advanced sensor based on diffusing-wave spectroscopy (DWS). ALIS™ not only captures traditional photoplethysmography (PPG) data but also provides a unique blood flow index (BFi). This opens up new possibilities for monitoring vital parameters.

We form a close and informal team with large ambitions and a diverse skill set. We operate in a flat organizational structure where both professionalism and a friendly atmosphere are key.

Internship opportunity

At Praxa Sense, we are continuously working to improve the robustness and real-world performance of our sensor technology. For this project, we are looking for an intern or working student who wants to contribute to the development of strategies to detect, classify, and manage motion-related disturbances in our sensor signals.

You will work at the interface between algorithm development and practical sensor testing. The goal of this role is to help translate the rich data generated by our system into a focused and effective strategy for motion artifact management, paving the way toward a clean processing pipeline that can reliably identify real-world events.

Your work may include

  • Conducting literature research on motion artifacts and signal robustness in optical sensing systems.
  • Analyzing sensor data in Python to detect, classify, and manage motion-related signal disturbances.
  • Developing and testing algorithms for improving robustness under real-world conditions.
  • Designing and carrying out your own experiments, both in vitro and in vivo, to better understand motion effects on the sensor.
  • Working closely with our multidisciplinary team of sensor developers, software engineers, and clinical technologists to translate findings into practical improvements.

We give you the freedom to explore and develop your own technical solution, while providing guidance and support from the team throughout the project.

What we offer

  • An internship of preferably 3 months or longer.
  • A monthly internship compensation of €400.
  • Guidance from a professional and friendly team of clinical technologists, sensor developers, and software engineers.
  • The opportunity to contribute to the development of a product with real-world impact in the medical field.
  • An inspiring work environment at one of Europe’s largest tech incubators: YES!Delft.
  • Fun team activities and a friendly, informal work culture.

What we are looking for

  • Educational background: You are currently pursuing or have completed a degree in physics, engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Technical skills: You have experience with Python and enjoy working with data, signal analysis, and experimental systems.
  • Hands-on mindset: You are excited to combine algorithm development with practical sensor testing.
  • Independent and proactive: You take ownership of your work and are comfortable setting up experiments and exploring solutions independently.
  • Open and communicative: You are comfortable asking questions, discussing ideas, and working together with people from different disciplines.
  • Ambitious mindset: You are excited about the dynamic and flexible world of a startup.
  • Working at our office is required (minimum of 3 days).

A clinical background is not required for this role.

Ambitious, young and fun healthcare startup creating the future of home monitoring. Join us on our mission to create high-class technical solutions to the pressing problems of the healthcare system in a durable way.
