As an IoT & Virtual Modeling Expert you will join our Disruptive Innovation team, accelerating the digital transformation of next-generation connected domestic appliances. This role combines research, simulation, and intelligent system modeling to unlock data-driven insights and future-ready product architectures.
You will pioneer the development of digital twins, create simulation automation workflows using Python, and apply advanced tools like Ansys and Siemens NX to model multi-domain appliance behavior enabling physics-based insights—thermal, fluid, mechanical, and beyond. Your work will empower early-stage design evaluation, performance trade-offs, and virtual validation, accelerate development cycles and reducing the need for physical prototypes and reimagine smart, sustainable appliances for tomorrow’s homes.

About the role

The impact you’ll make

  • Lead research and development of digital twin frameworks integrating physics-based simulation, IoT data, and analytics for predictive insights.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain simulation frameworks (FEM, CFD, system-level modelling, analytical calculations) to support early product design and pre-development using Python scripting for tool orchestration, parameter studies, and data processing.
  • Use Ansys (Twin Builder, Fluent) and Siemens NX (Simcenter, Mechatronics Concept Designer) to simulate and analyze multi-physics, control, and connectivity systems to predict product behavior and inform design decisions.
  • Conduct system-level analyses, trade-off and feasibility studies across product categories.
  • Translate engineering and physics requirements into simulation tasks, collaborating closely with predevelopment and testing teams.
  • Build re-usable tools & co-simulation environments linking MATLAB/Simulink, Modelica, Streamlit applications and custom Python pipelines to enable integrated virtual validation.
  • Support innovation and concept projects by providing simulation-driven insights and virtual prototypes.
  • Evaluate emerging IoT and virtual modeling technologies to advance digital innovation capabilities.
  • Collaborate across mechanical, design, and engineering teams to translate simulation insights into intelligent system design.
  • Establish and maintain digital validation workflows that connect virtual models with real-world data feedback from smart devices.
  • Document and communicate research findings, frameworks, and best practices to foster digital innovation culture within the team.

The skills and knowledge you’ll bring

  • Master’s or PhD in (Applied) Physics, Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering (focus on system modeling or simulation).
  • 5+ years of experience in IoT systems research, digital twins, or mechatronic system simulation and automation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Ansys Twin Builder/Fluent/Mechanical, Siemens NX Simcenter, Comsol, Python, Modelica and scripting for simulation automation (Python, MATLAB).
  • Experience building Python pipelines for simulation workflow automation, data management, or model-based analytics.
  • Strong understanding of IoT architectures, sensor data integration, and edge–cloud synchronization.
  • Analytical mindset with proven ability to connect complex simulation results to real product and user insights.
  • Multidisciplinary understanding of thermal, fluid, structural/mechanical physics.
  • Proven ability to link simulation to real product requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in connected consumer devices, smart systems, or advanced home appliance development.
  • Knowledge of AI-driven surrogate modeling, reduced-order modeling, or reinforcement learning for control optimization.
  • Contributions to technical publications, patents, or internal research papers.
  • Experience translating research publications or product concepts into virtual simulation models.
  • Experience with Modelica or other system-level simulation environments.
  • Experience validating simulation results with experimental data.
  • Background in consumer product development.
  • Experience building internal modelling capabilities.
