Your role and responsibilities

Als RouteGuard Operations Manager maak je deel uit van een internationaal team van enthousiaste collega’s die werken vanuit Nederland en de Filipijnen. Het RouteGuard-team is onderdeel van Shipping Operations en ondersteunt zowel ons FleetGuard Managed product als onze RouteGuard service. Je bouwt een sterke relatie op met onze Shipping-klanten door uitstekende service, hoge kwaliteit en doorlopende ondersteuning te bieden. Je primaire verantwoordelijkheid is weather routing en post-voyage performance analysis. Je communiceert met kapiteins en operators om tijdens de reis de best-in-class routing service te leveren en na de reis performance analyses te verzorgen. We verwachten dat je je eigen workload overziet en beheert, prioriteiten kunt stellen en onder druk een hoge kwaliteitsstandaard behoudt. Daarnaast zoeken we iemand die de status quo niet accepteert en graag meedenkt over het verbeteren van onze procedures en dienstverlening aan klanten.

Als operations manager heb je een leiderschapsrol en bied je operationele en persoonlijke begeleiding. Je bent verantwoordelijk voor het lokale RouteGuard-team in Utrecht en combineert dit met het zelf draaien van operationele shifts. Je blijft rustig, behoudt overzicht en prioriteert de juiste acties.

• Manage team members, including regular conversations, providing support, and conducting performance evaluations.

• Ensure training is provided on new products and services, as well as on the technical skills required to meet customer requirements.

• Develop relationships with stakeholders to understand strategic direction, and communicate and implement related tactical actions.

• Review team performance and implement actions to ensure high-quality service delivery to customers.

• Actively contribute to team building and continuous improvement, taking responsibility for improvement plans, raising issues and proposing solutions, and encouraging others to do the same.

• In addition to managerial responsibilities, actively supports the team by contributing to core operational tasks such as weather monitoring and analysis, route advisory, post-voyage assessments, customer consultancy, and handling complex queries.

You’ll be part of the Marine & Ports department, where we develop cutting-edge electrical and automation solutions for the maritime industry. Our technology in energy, drives, and automation has set industry standards for decades. Within this department, you’ll work in the operations team, collaborating with experts who share your passion for maritime excellence.

Qualifications for the role

To succeed in this role, you should bring a combination of leadership experience, maritime operational knowledge, and a proactive mindset. We are looking for someone who is both a strong team manager and a hands-on contributor with a passion for delivering high-quality service. Specifically, we are looking for candidates with:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Meteorology, Oceanography, Maritime Studies, or a related technical field.

• 2+ years of experience in the maritime field, ideally as an Officer. Experience as a Route Analyst is a plus.

• Proven leadership experience.

• Strong understanding of weather routing, voyage planning, and maritime operations.

• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise effectively with captains, operators, and internal teams.

• Ability to work under pressure, set priorities, and maintain high-quality standards in a dynamic environment.

• Customer-focused mindset with a strong sense of responsibility and service delivery.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess performance data and translate insights into actionable improvements.

• Proactive attitude with a drive to continuously improve processes, team performance, and customer satisfaction.

• Experience with operational planning tools or maritime routing systems is a plus.

• Willingness to work operational shifts, including weekends or outside regular hours.
