The Head of Platform owns the strategy, standards, and outcomes for Tiqets’ platform capabilities: Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, IT Support, plus executive oversight of incident management. Reporting to the CTO, this leader is accountable for reliability/scalability/performance at a system level and for enabling developer productivity and safe operations.

This role is expected to be a cross-functional technical leader—working closely with security/compliance and architecture leadership—and to set platform direction through metrics, standards, and investment choices. In this role, you will lead the platform strategy and roadmap while establishing governance standards. You will ensure system integrity through security and compliance protocols, driving reliability via proactive observability and incident response.

What your role entails:

Strategic Leadership

• Strategy & Execution: Define and deliver domain-level OKRs across platform reliability, developer enablement, and internal IT health.

• People Leadership: Lead and coach Managers and Tech Leads; oversee performance cycles, succession planning, and final hiring authority.

Technical & Operational Ownership

• Developer Enablement: Own the platform roadmap (CI/CD, observability, runtime services) and establish engineering-wide standards and governance.

• System Outcomes: Accountable for the "Big Three": Reliability (SLOs/SLIs), Scalability, and Performance metrics.

• Data & Security: Lead data engineering strategy, governance, and quality, while ensuring robust security, risk management, and audit readiness.

Service Excellence

• Incident Management: Provide executive ownership of incident practices, from on-call structures to post-mortems and prevention.

• Internal IT Support: Drive service quality for internal IT (onboarding, access, tooling) through clear SLAs and operational hygiene.

What you will bring:

• Platform Expertise: Deep background in infrastructure, distributed systems, and developer tooling, with the ability to vet and guide complex technical decisions.

• Proven Leadership: Extensive experience managing multiple engineering teams and coaching other managers or tech leads.

• Cross-Functional Influence: A track record of collaborating effectively with Security, Legal, and Product stakeholders to align platform goals with business needs.

• Security & Compliance Ownership: Strong grasp of cloud and application security principles, with experience leading risk-based decision-making and audit readiness.

• Data & IT Vision: Familiarity with owning data engineering strategy and internal IT service delivery at scale.

• Operational Excellence: Experience implementing measurement discipline (SLOs/SLIs) and executive-level incident management practices.

• Living in the Netherlands or willing to relocate. This is a hybrid role working 2-3 days per week at our HQ in Amsterdam
