Compensation (French and/or Dutch Native)

  • €300/month compensation
  • Applies to candidates who are native or highly fluent/professional-level in French and/or Dutch

Performance-based commission opportunities (for all interns):

  • 5% of total contract value if you originate a client contract
  • 10% if you also help secure the contract
  • 15–20% (or more in certain exceptions) if you contribute to project execution
  • 35% (or more in certain exceptions) for direct involvement in projects for existing clients

The Position

As an Intern – International Trade & Investment, you will work across ITIA’s service lines. Based on current client priorities, your work will primarily support our Investment Attraction and Business Development & Matchmaking services (as outlined on our website).

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Market research on international business trends, trade policies, and FDI opportunities
  • Supporting investment attraction projects by identifying and engaging companies, investors, and stakeholders
  • Outreach, lead generation, and B2B matchmaking activities
  • Supporting economic diplomacy efforts with public and private partners
  • Contributing to reports and presentations on trade and investment topics
  • Working in a multilingual, multicultural environment and attending international events

Alternative Internship Track (Part-time, Unpaid)

Candidates who do not speak/write French or Dutch at a native or professional level may apply under an alternative track.

For these applicants:

  • Part-time (minimum 3–4 days per week)
  • Unpaid
  • Duration: ideally 6 months or more; minimum commitment: 4 months
  • English professional working proficiency is a hard requirement
  • Strong motivation and interest in international trade and investment are essential

Who You Are

  • Motivated and eager to learn (prior experience appreciated but not required)
  • Internationally oriented, with interest in global markets, international affairs, business development, and trade relations
  • Curious, proactive, and comfortable taking on new challenges
  • Pursuing or have completed an HBO/Bachelor/Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Comfortable taking responsibility, working autonomously, and contributing from an early stage
  • Organized and willing to support onboarding of future interns

Preferred Profile

We review applications holistically, but priority will generally be given to candidates who match most of the following:

  • Ability to start immediately (even part-time initially), with March 2 as the latest possible start date
  • Availability to commit 5 days per week for 6 months or longer (especially for the compensated role)
  • Internship required as part of studies (ECTS / study credits)
  • Already based in the Netherlands (ideally The Hague) or able to relocate quickly at own initiative
  • Strong startup mindset: proactive, disciplined, comfortable working independently, comfortable reaching out to prospects/clients/partners (externally) and communicates clearly/reaches out proactviely when blocked on a task (internally)

Important: Not meeting all of the above does not mean you won’t be selected. We have hired interns in the past who did not meet every criterion. Final decisions depend on overall fit, motivation, and the strength of the applicant pool.

Wat wij bieden

Praktische ervaring in internationale handel/FDI, markttoetreding, leadgeneratie en acquisitie, binnen een multiculturele omgeving met exposure aan internationale stakeholders en events.

Vergoeding (Nederlandstalige en/of Franstalige native)

  • €300/maand - voor kandidaten met native of zeer vloeiend/professioneel niveau Nederlands en/of Frans)

Commissiemogelijkheden (voor alle stagiairs):

  • 5% bij het aanbrengen van een klantcontract
  • 10% als je ook helpt het contract te sluiten
  • 15–20% (of meer in uitzonderingen) bij directe bijdrage aan projectuitvoering
  • 35% (of meer in uitzonderingen) op de commissie die ITIA direct verdient op klantencontracten waarbij de stagiair direct betrokken is geweest bij het behalen van de commissie

De functie

Je werkt mee binnen de service lines van ITIA. Op basis van klantprioriteiten ligt je focus vooral op Investment Attraction en Business Development & Matchmaking (zoals op onze website).

Mogelijke werkzaamheden:

  • Marktonderzoek (trends, handelsbeleid, FDI-kansen)
  • Identificeren/benaderen van bedrijven, investeerders en stakeholders
  • Outreach, leadgeneratie en B2B matchmaking
  • Bijdragen aan rapporten/presentaties en ondersteuning van (economische) diplomatie
  • Deelname aan internationale meetings/events

Alternatieve stage (parttime, onbetaald)

Voor kandidaten die niet op native of professioneel niveau Frans/Nederlands spreken én schrijven:

  • Parttime (minimaal 3–4 dagen p/w) | Onbetaald
  • Duur: idealiter 6+ maanden; minimum 4 maanden
  • Engels op professioneel werk-niveau is een harde eis
  • Sterke motivatie en interesse in internationale handel/investeringen is essentieel

Wie jij bent

Gemotiveerd, leergierig en internationaal georiënteerd (ervaring is een plus, niet vereist). Je volgt/hebt afgerond HBO/Bachelor/Master, werkt graag zelfstandig, neemt verantwoordelijkheid en bent proactief.

Voorkeursprofiel (prioriteit in selectie)

We beoordelen holistisch, maar prioriteit gaat doorgaans naar kandidaten die op de meeste punten matchen:

  • Snel starten (desnoods eerst parttime), met 2 maart als uiterste startdatum
  • 5 dagen per week beschikbaar voor 6 maanden of langer (zeker voor de betaalde rol)
  • Stage is vereist vanuit studie (ECTS/studiepunten)
  • Woonachtig in NL (bij voorkeur Den Haag) of bereid snel te verhuizen op eigen initiatief
  • Startup-mentaliteit: proactief, zelfstandig, en contact opnemen als je vastloopt op een taak
