By implementing innovative technological developments in practice, we continue to push the boundaries of the shipbuilding industry.

About the role

In this role as a Business Analyst, you hold a key position in ensuring business requirements related to IT changes are set up for success. Being the first point of contact to the business to discuss their requests, you fully grasp their goal and desired result. Since you are dealing with a host of departments and seniorities, you deploy your soft skills to coach, advise and side with the internal stakeholder so that you fully scope their request while they feel understood and listened to. Leveraging your broad IT experience and analytical skills, you can identify all impacted functional and technical IT areas and deliver an initial estimation of the time and spending required.

Key accountabilities

  • Liaise with stakeholders to identify and prioritize business requirements for IT projects, ensuring clear communication and understanding across all levels.
  • Provide an initial estimation of the time and spending, factoring in all impacted functional and technical changes required.
  • Evaluate data to interpret complex data sets, deriving insights that support data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with project management to ensure project plans and business cases align with organizational goals.
  • Develop documentation including functional specifications, system design documents, and user stories to guide IT solutions.
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders and project teams, ensuring a clear understanding of requirements and objectives.
  • Support testing phases by validating solutions to ensure they meet business requirements.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to suggest strategic improvements and innovations.

Skills & experience

  • Over 5 years of experience as an IT Business Analyst, ideally within a complex matrix organization.
  • Proven track record of working on diverse IT and business solutions, showcasing extensive IT expertise.
  • Experience in the shipbuilding or manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, capable of clearly explaining technical and functional constraints to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Proficiency in requirement analysis, tools, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of engineering and/or naval business processes.
  • Understanding of project management processes and tools.
  • Good command of the Dutch & English language (written & verbal).
  • Available to frequently work from our headquarter in Vlissingen.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.

What we offer

At Damen Naval, we highly value our employees, and we will support your professional and personal development. We also provide our employees with:

  • A competitive salary and 8% holiday pay.
  • 27 holidays and 13 ADV days.
