Be part of progress: Join ASML’s Trade Data Management Team

Introduction to the job

As an expert in export control and customs, you will leverage your experience with IT implementations and process improvements to support ASML's Trade Data Management (TDM) team in continuously improving our processes and upgrading our application landscape in the coming years.

Role and responsibilities

You will be part of the Trade Data Management (TDM) team, responsible for providing accurate and consistent product classifications and origin used in our transactions to ensure compliance with Customs and Export Control regulations. We maintain trade preference statuses to benefit from Free Trade Agreements and screen our business partners for compliance with sanctioned party lists. We also screen all transactions globally for compliance with export regulations. In our work, we closely collaborate with experts in the Export Control & Sanctions team within Legal & Compliance, the Customs Affairs team within Tax & Customs, the technical experts involved in technology, software and product development, as well as colleagues involved in the operational processes of shipping products and filing customs declarations.

In this role, you will:

  • Execute the improvement roadmap for Trade Data Management, ASML and its related companies related to export control and customs compliance.
  • Represent the Trade Data Management team as a key user in projects: provide requirements, create and execute test scripts, create training materials and work instructions for the deliverables relevant to the team.
  • Identify and implement improvements that will smoothen processes and decrease compliance risks.
  • Continuously align with peers in the Trade Data Management team to ensure that solutions are supportive of each other.
  • Establish good working relationships at various levels with relevant departments within ASML (for example Development & Engineering).
  • Work independently whilst maintaining proper alignment with key stakeholders.

Education and experience

You bring at least a bachelor’s degree in a technical field like (applied) physics, mechatronics, electronics or comparable, or law, compliance or auditing or comparable. Besides the educational background, you also possess the following:

  • 7+ years of work experience in export control in tech companies.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the EU and U.S. export laws and regulations as well as with customs regulations, specifically determining classifications.
  • Experience with transaction and sanctioned party screening applications.
  • Experience with determining export control classifications of technology, software and/or products.
  • Experience with SAP ERP and SAP GTS systems.
  • Experience with implementation of software solutions in the global trade domain.
  • Experience with and understanding of multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.

Skills

Working at the cutting edge of tech, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve – and working together is the only way to do that. You won’t work in a silo. Instead, you’ll be part of a creative, dynamic work environment where you’ll collaborate with supportive colleagues. There is always space for creative and unique points of view. You’ll have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems.

To thrive in this job, you’ll need the following skills:

  • Strong drive with a hands-on, structured, accurate and result-oriented working style.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and drive others, build relationships and influence other functional areas.
  • Ability to cope with a multicultural, dynamic and changing and complex environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex business issues into simple problem statements, clear processes and actions.
  • Good time management skills and able to manage towards tight deadlines.
  • Take ownership of issues from start to finalization.
  • Eye for detail.
