Do you want to conceive and develop technologically complex Offshore Energy projects while contributing to sustainability? After winning a project, you are responsible for figuring out the competitive advantage. How cool is that! This is your role as Production Engineer Offshore Energy.

The Position

As a Senior Production Engineer Cables and Pipelines, you will be responsible for analysing and setting up production calculations and working methods for new projects. These projects are technologically complex and related to cable laying, cable burial and pipeline installation projects. You specialise in a wide variety of projects that challenge your analytical skills and creativity.

You will do this in close collaboration with various other disciplines within the company. The diversity ranges from cable and pipe installation in relatively easy geotechnical conditions to highly geologically complex sites, which require customised burial solutions. These projects are usually based on in-house equipment, but might also include other (large) types of equipment available within the fleet whenever necessary. The Offshore Energy division is inherently committed to innovative solutions, leading to Van Oord's competitive advantage.

Your Impact

As a Senior Production Engineer Cables and Pipelines, you may occasionally visit projects in progress to advise the project team and ship's crew on possible optimisations. During these visits, you will actively monitor the production and installation process and working methods. This is to improve knowledge sharing within the company and to record (practical) knowledge in the company's production databases as a basis for future tenders.

  • Interpreting and analysing large amounts of project and geotechnical data.
  • Supporting tender and project teams in both tendering and implementation.
  • Designing efficient and competitive production processes, including equipment and logistics choices.
  • Use and further development of internal software for production estimates.
  • Preparing and presenting deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Visiting projects and offshore equipment to monitor processes in real time and advise on optimisations.
  • Recording and sharing practical knowledge to improve future tenders and project implementation.

Your workplace

The location for the Senior Production Engineer Cables and Pipelines is in Gorinchem. You will be part of the Offshore Energy Production Team within the Engineering and Estimating department. The team has an open, dynamic and informal atmosphere, where collaboration and mutual support are important values.

About You

You have the desire and interest to further develop yourself as an all-round sparring partner for Tender and Project Managers and Engineers and have the drive to enthusiastically present solutions in discussions with potential (internal) Clients. You have strong analytical skills, a creative and solution-oriented approach and the ability to keep ‘the big picture’ in mind and think ahead. In addition, you bring the following:

  • a minimum Bachelor degree, preferably Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering;
  • 5 years of experience in a similar position;
  • strong interest in mechanical systems;
  • good ability to work within a (tender) team, but also to work independently
  • investigative, creative, structured and flexible approach to work;
  • excellent command of the English language
  • willingness to work on projects all over the world.

We Offer

Working in an international, highly demanding and dynamic organisation, with the possibility to truly have impact on our business, people and environment. We offer a complete package with excellent secondary employment benefits. The package includes among other things:

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;
  • 32 leave days of which a max. of 7 days can be appointed as collective leave days;
  • Pension scheme;
  • Variable bonus;
  • Extensive learning and (personal) development possibilities;
  • Travel allowance;
  • flexible working hours.
At Van Oord, I don’t just work on projects, I get to see them come to life.
