GKN Aerospace Careers is seeking a Site IT Manager responsible for managing IT services within a site or site cluster, serving as the main point of contact for Site Directors and Site Functional Leads as part of the Site Steering Committee (SSC). This role is empowered to intervene when site-specific incidents or changes are not being resolved in line with site expectations, working directly with Operations, Applications, and Cyber teams to ensure timely resolution of key issues. The Site IT Manager participates in Daily Drumbeat calls as needed to escalate priority issues, ensures clear communication with key internal and external stakeholders, and prioritises incidents, changes, and projects according to site expectations. Coordination with IT Functional Leads is essential to ensure appropriate service levels for infrastructure, applications, security, and the service desk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acts as the IT Business Partner for a site or site cluster, representing the IT function as a member of the Site Steering Committee (SSC).
- Empowered to steer IT resources, in collaboration with IT Functional Leads, to resolve IT issues and assignments.
- Implements, maintains, and monitors IT policies and procedures.
- Ensures equipment is deployed effectively to achieve maximum efficiency and cost control.
- Supports Global and Regional IT operations and adherence to Global and Regional IT standards, ensuring they are adopted and that IT systems are utilised to their full potential with assistance from global functions as required.
- Contributes to the annual IT budget process.
- Oversees the management of IT services within a site or site cluster, ensuring the IT function operates efficiently and maintains a customer-service-oriented approach.
- Ensures IT security requirements are observed and implemented across sites of responsibility.
- Provides support to site-based IT employees, including aspects of pastoral care (facilities, health, safety, wellbeing, etc.), in collaboration with the relevant global IT teams and management within a matrix organization.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.
- Systems experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in people management and project management.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and matrix environment, including strong listening, communication, and constructive challenge skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to guide others and achieve results in a matrix structure.
- Proven ability to be proactive, take initiative, and exercise sound independent judgement.
- Professionalism, adaptability, and flexibility.
- Ability to work directly with management in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong problem-solving and project-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Role is attached to site; regular site presence is required.
