Join the Improvement Team at GKN Fokker Landing Gear

We currently have an open position for the role of Process Improvement Engineer. Join the Improvement team and drive the root cause analysis on machining issues and perform the corrective action required to prevent those defects from occurring again.

Fokker Landing Gear, part of GKN Fokker, is a recognized specialist in landing gear and related systems. We focus on the design and development, production and assembly of complete landing gears, as well as the repair and reassembly of systems already in use. In doing so, we work on the most famous aircraft and helicopters; think of the Apache combat helicopter, the F-35 Lightning II (JSF), the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 and the multipurpose NH90 maritime combat helicopter.

What You'll Do

  • Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
  • Drive changes to manufacturing process, tooling/fixtures and/or production sheets, from original concept through to implementation.
  • Provide hands-on shop floor support to CNC operators, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Develop and improve standard operation procedures (SOP).
  • Develop and optimize NC programs for multi-axis milling and mill-turn machines using advanced CAM software.
  • Test and verify the correct functionality of the CNC program on the machines.

What You'll Bring

What is required

  • 3 years’ experience in hard metal manufacturing and a passion for precision, multi-axis machining.
  • Experience driving process improvement activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret Siemens NC code and Heidenhain.
  • Solid background in operating and programming CNC machines, with a good understanding of multi-axis milling and mill-turn operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of GD&T.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with CNC operators and other team members.

What is an advantage

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g., Engineering, Manufacturing Technology).
  • Experience with TopSolid, Siemens NX CAM, Vericut, CrashGuard, Tooltech and TDM.
  • Experience with DMGs and Hellers.
  • Green-belt and understanding/experience with applying LEAN.
  • Experience with on-machine probing.

What We'll Offer

  • A challenging position in an innovative and international environment with a rich history in aircraft manufacturing. Our organization breathes passion for engineering and all our teams are justifiably proud of what they develop and build.
  • A salary based on the CAO Metalektro and depending on your experience and qualifications.
  • 40-42 paid holidays for full-time employment (depending on the salary grade).
