As a Mechanical Systems Engineer, you design existing and new piping systems on board ships. This is a great opportunity for you to start your career as a Mechanical Engineer within shipbuilding.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Creating one-line piping diagrams for cooling water, fuel, bilge, and ballast systems, etc.
  • Performing necessary calculations such as pressure loss, NPSH, heat balance, and specifying fittings and instrumentation.
  • Calculating pipe diameter and thickness.
  • Tracking package versions during the detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Processing individual installation instructions from component suppliers.
  • Specifying required components based on construction specifications and standard regulations.
  • Procuring valves, fittings, and instrumentation.
  • Drafting technical specifications, receiving and evaluating quotes, and collaborating with the Procurement Department and Lead Engineers Machinery & Piping to make decisions.
  • Responsible for inspections by classification societies and/or clients.

You will also collaborate closely with the Procurement Department and Lead Engineers Machinery & Piping to make key decisions throughout the project phases.

Your Profile:

To be eligible for this position, you should have the following:

  • A completed degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technician Engineering (or another relevant technical study).
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with regulations from classification societies and international authorities.
  • Awareness of technical developments in the field.
  • The ability to initiate research and technical advancements.
  • Experience with (Shipbuilding) engineering is a plus.
  • Experience with Cadmatic and Teamcenter/IFS is a plus.
