Analytics Engineer at Yellowgrape

— To be considered for this role, you must already live in the Netherlands. Unfortunately, we are not able to support relocation or applications from abroad —

Do you get energy from transforming raw data into reliable, reusable models that everyone can use? Do you like sleek SQL, reliable data, neat naming conventions and good documentation? Then this is your role at Yellowgrape.
As an Analytics Engineer at Yellowgrape, you are building the foundation of our AI- and data-driven approach to e-commerce. You model, test, versionize and document the data in our Google Cloud environment so that analysts, marketers, and customers arrive at the same insights quickly and consistently. You bring software engineering best practices to the analytics stack and make sure the data is accurate before someone sees a broken graph. With your work, you also lay the foundation for our data scientists: accurate, well-documented datasets and features that allow us to develop AI-driven models and predictions and bring them reliably into production.

Waar jij blij van wordt in je rol

  • Build ETL pipelines to convert platform and CRM data into clearly modelled, documented data models and marts in Dataform.
  • Write data transformations in SQL with assertions/tests, documentation, and clear naming conventions.
  • Ensuring data quality with schema and data assertions, CI checks and alerts, so that issues surface before stakeholders notice.
  • Establish a consistent metrics layer that answers marketing and e-commerce questions: from orders and LTV to cohort and funnel analyses.
  • Developing features within our warehousing and dashboarding ecosystem: think of reusable Dataform models, new datasets and metrics, monitoring/alerting and scalable components/templates for Looker Studio.
  • Prepare datasets and feature sets for machine learning: well-structured, version-friendly tables that data scientists use for training, validation, and inference, with clear feature definitions and lineage.
  • Apply version control in Github to analytics code, including code reviews and automated deployments.
  • Collaborate with web analysts, data scientists, data consultants, and marketers to translate data needs into scalable models.
  • Monitor and optimize performance and costs within Google Cloud; use partitioning, scheduling, and resource usage wisely.
  • Provide clear, useful documentation that really makes self-service in Looker Studio possible.

Zo pas jij goed in deze rol

  • At least 2 years of experience in analytics engineering, BI engineering or data analytics with a strong SQL and modeling focus.
  • Excellent SQL skills and experience with data modeling (staging, marts, dimensional modeling, SCDs where relevant).
  • Experience with data transformation tools such as Dataform or dbt and Git-driven workflows in Github.
  • Experience in Google Cloud (data and workflow services) and connecting marketing/e-commerce sources via ETL tooling.
  • Experience with CI/CD for analytics (e.g. pull request checks, automated runs).
  • Product mindset: you can put features end-to-end — from idea/PoC to release — including documentation, versioning, and adoption in Looker Studio.
  • You understand the data needs of machine learning and model development (train/test splits, leakage prevention, reproducibility) and help you think about features that make models better.
  • Work with APIs to fetch or transmit data (authentication, pagination, rate limiting, webhooks) and reliably integrate these flows into pipelines.
  • Pros: experience with Terraform, basic Python for tooling/automation, Looker Studio and knowledge of event tracking and e-commerce data.
  • You communicate clearly, think in terms of standards and documentation, and make complex things understandable.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (both oral and written).
  • You have a curious attitude and are always looking for ways to improve our services.
  • You will continuously stay up to date with the changing trends in your field and related areas, such as privacy law, technology and marketing.
  • You would like to work in an organization that is driven by culture.
  • You look forward to working in an engaged team.
  • You are able to identify problems, discuss them and look for solutions.
  • You are available at least 32 hours a week.
