The Content Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team is seeking an experienced financial analyst to join its team in Amsterdam. This role will serve as an integrated business partner to the local content acquisition, production, and legal teams, and will be responsible for financial planning and analytics for headcount and operating expenses, as well as supporting other cross-functional initiatives. The associate position is based in the Amsterdam office and will provide analysis used in Netflix’s content financial planning and strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Support near-term and long-term operating expense and headcount forecasts for Netflix’s Content, Production, and Legal teams in EMEA.
- Perform financial scenario analyses, provide trade-off recommendations, and offer guidance to stakeholders on budget optimisation.
- Develop insightful financial models and presentations to facilitate decision-making for senior Netflix management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with data owners to ensure seamless, accurate access and extraction of financial data, and drive automation and reporting solutions to enable decision-making (e.g., actionable insights based on financial performance, trends, and drivers).
- Manage key title metadata in the FP&A forecasting system to ensure forecast accuracy.
- Work cross-functionally with various teams locally, as well as across Europe and Los Angeles, to support content initiatives in EMEA.
Qualifications
- Highly analytical and technically proficient, with strong and effective communication skills.
- Prior experience in financial planning & analysis or commercial finance is preferred.
- Proficiency in designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and/or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Coefficient, Looker), ensuring data accuracy and consistency through strong quality controls.
- Entertainment industry experience is not essential, but a passion for entertainment is a must.
- Proven track record of superior financial and strategic analysis, and developing/delivering actionable recommendations based on this analysis.
- Demonstrated initiative in anticipating and exceeding the business demands of stakeholders and business leaders; ability to think and act strategically to add value, impact, and offer insights into programming initiatives in the region.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics.
- Motivated, disciplined, and able to work effectively autonomously within a fast-growing, flat organisational structure where employees are often asked to perform tasks with a range of difficulties.
Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Extensive experience conducting quantitative and qualitative financial analysis and delivering actionable recommendations based on the analysis.
- Superior proficiency in Excel and complex financial modelling.
- Proficiency in English, with clear and concise communication abilities; experience in communicating internationally is a plus.
- Prior experience working with or presenting analyses to high-level stakeholders.
- Sound working knowledge of related accounting policies preferred.
- Experience or knowledge of the European media/entertainment landscape is a plus.
