Challenging position for the Product Management Team

Product Manager Books & Journals

The Product Manager Books, Journals and GTTC is part of the Product Management & Delivery Department and plays a key role in overseeing the development, production and management of the publications. The Product Manager is responsible for the distribution and integration of IBFD’s products. You will report to the Director Product Management & Delivery and work closely with internal stakeholders such as Academic, Markets & Clients, Tech & Data, Production, Training Delivery, the Knowledge Centre and Finance. You will be a member of the IBFD Product Management Team.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Planning

  • Define Product Vision: develop and articulate the vision, goals and strategy for the product, aligning with the company’s overall strategy.
  • Roadmap Development: create and maintain a product roadmap that outlines – amongst other things – the new publications, features and user validation for product development.
  • Revenue and ROI Goals: collaborate with Finance and Sales to set pricing, revenue targets and KPIs for product development.
  • Identify the Needs of the Target Audience: collaborate with the Market Research Team to define the needs of the target audience.

Product Development

  • Content Collaboration: work closely with the Academic Team and the Knowledge Centre to shape the content, format and structure of the product.
  • Product Specifications: develop detailed product specifications including format, design elements and distribution channels.
  • Use of Technology: oversee possible uses of technology for both (new) digital products and operational excellence. Work with Tech & Data to oversee feasibility and to ensure a smooth user experience.
  • User Experience (UX): together with the UX Team, ensure a strong focus on user needs. Test and validate design via prototyping before starting the development.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: organize product testing to ensure the product meets quality standards before launch.

Stakeholder Management (Internal & External)

  • Work with the Academic Team, Knowledge Centre & Production Department: collaborate with editors and authors to guide the development of content that aligns with market needs and product goals.
  • Work with Markets & Clients: support the go-to-market strategy and actions, and align with Sales to ensure the product is well-positioned for its target audience and market.
  • Contract Negotiations: negotiate contracts with authors, licensing partners or distribution channels to ensure favourable terms for the product.

Product Lifecycle Management & Financial Management

  • Lifecycle Management: manage the full lifecycle of the product, from conception to retirement, ensuring profitability and relevance throughout its life.
  • Budgeting & Cost Optimization: develop and manage the budget for product development and identify opportunities to reduce production costs or increase efficiency.
  • Data Tracking: Monitor the product’s financial performance and usage.

Requirements

  • Project Management: ability to manage multiple timelines, stakeholders and tasks simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Communication & Cross-Departmental Collaboration: strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams.
  • Market Development Awareness: knowledge of market developments in the publishing industry including technology developments and evolving user needs.
  • Analytical Thinking: strong analytical skills to interpret sales data, user feedback and financial reports to make informed product decisions and solid business cases for new product development.
  • Technical Understanding: familiarity with digital publishing platforms and the broader technology landscape, also in the area of partnerships.
  • Creativity: the ability to think creatively about how to package and distribute content in a competitive and fast-changing market.

Salary & fringe benefits

We offer you a part-time (24-32 hours) position with a starting salary, depending on background and relevant work experience, between €6,500 and €7,000 (based on full-time employement) gross per month. This is completed by an attractive package of fringe benefits, including:
