Healthy Communities & Healthy Planet and Thriving People are two of Ahold Delhaize’s six priority pillars, supporting our ambition to lead the transition to a healthy and sustainable food system and form the basis for Ahold Delhaize’s ESG reporting. As ESG Reporting Manager, you will ensure Ahold Delhaize’s global ESG reporting approach is in line with latest expectations from internal and external stakeholders.

About Ahold Delhaize

We’re Ahold Delhaize, one of the world’s largest food retail groups and a leader in both supermarkets and e-commerce. Together with our 17 strong local retail brands in the United States, Europe and Indonesia, we make a meaningful difference in the lives of our brands’ customers, our people and the world around us. We offer a highly dynamic, international work environment in which our associates thrive.

Your new work environment

As ESG Reporting Manager, you’ll be joining our Finance department. In the Finance department, our goal is straightforward: we take care of the finances for the organization and our entire family of 17 global brands. The impact on the organization is tangible: we provide insights that enable our colleagues to offer the right guidance and targets for the business, and drive innovation and change in different domains of the company. All our Finance teams are filled with smart, high-performing finance professionals who enjoy pioneering and taking ownership of their work.

You will be given the freedom and responsibility to take ownership of your work and broaden your horizons by working together with knowledgeable colleagues from different countries who have an abundance of expertise in many areas. We will continuously support you and help you build on your talents and skills for the future.

Key responsibilities of your role

As ESG Reporting Manager, you support the data collection of Ahold Delhaize’s ESG results, which is used to increase visibility and awareness among internal and external stakeholders, including the Executive Committee and Supervisory Board, investors, and strategic external partners.

The 17 retail brands within Ahold Delhaize’s group are responsible for data collection based on the instructions received from the ESG Reporting team. You will work together with US and EU retail brands to align instructions and confirm that data is gathered in accordance with these instructions. Furthermore, you will lead projects across regions and brands and, together with the team, be responsible for preparing the sustainability statements of Ahold Delhaize’s annual report.

You will be part of the ESG Reporting team, which is accountable for regulatory compliance to applicable European and Dutch reporting frameworks. To achieve this, the team anticipates requirements, keeps up to date with regulations, and addresses problems by coming up with effective and efficient solutions and analyses. The team is part of the Group Tax & Accounting Department, where you’ll report directly to Harm-Jan Pietersen, Director ESG Reporting.

Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities. Here are the key ones:

  • Deliver and support credible and accurate internal quarterly reporting on non-financial/ESG performance and external reporting on ESG progress.
  • Lead global and regional projects and initiatives, working closely with the other ESG Reporting Managers within the team.
  • Determine, set, and maintain—based upon legal requirements and guidance—our external ESG reporting requirements to ensure they are up to standard.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the relevant teams (Health & Sustainability, Finance, and Human Resources) in the group and regions, building strong cross-functional networks and guiding & inspiring teams.
  • As part of the team, develop and deliver relevant trainings to cross-functional teams in the field of ESG reporting to ensure a consistent message is delivered, and data is collected in a consistent way between continents and brands.

What’s in it for you?

Aside from what we ask of you in this role, we also have a great deal to offer you: plenty of growth opportunities and various cross-brand career options; flexible working hours; hybrid working – we encourage you to spend at least 3 days a week, on average, at the office (based on a 40-hour work week); and the chance to drive meaningful change on a global scale. You can look forward to a good work-life balance, and the chance to work in an inclusive environment that wholeheartedly encourages growth and welcomes you just the way you are.

Plus:

  • A gross annual salary of €77.500 to €85.000 based on full-time employment
  • Attractive bonuses
  • A first-rate pension plan
  • 20 vacation days and the option to buy an additional 12.5 days from your personal ‘flex budget’
  • Travel expenses or an NS travel card
  • A laptop and smartphone

Requirements

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you meet the following requirements:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in finance and reporting, ideally within international business.
  • A Master’s degree in Finance or an ESG-related topic
  • Good project management skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Analytical skills to interpret and analyze information, numbers, and trends
  • A passion for sustainability and demonstrated interest in driving societal impacts through more sustainable business practices. Knowledge of reporting frameworks is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills (in English, written and verbal), with the ability to create clear, concise, and high-impact communications to support company visibility on health and sustainability.
  • Confidence to question and challenge the status quo, listen to other perspectives, and process feedback.

What do we offer?

  • To live wholeheartedly
  • To keep growing
