You maintain close contact with various teams within the bank, senior management and the supervisor. At ASN Bank, we put people first — including the 3 million customers who trust us with their financial well-being.

As our Model Validator, you will be part of our Model Risk Management (MRM) team and use your expert skills to help over 3 million clients. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust model validation framework as well as assessing the development and performance of ASN Bank’s models.

In this position, you will translate current and proposed relevant regulatory requirements such as CRR, ECB and EBA Guidelines and Basel principles into standards and procedures a model validator uses in assessing models. You’ll provide an independent assessment of the quality, suitability and use of de Volksbank’s models. Based on this, you’ll advise senior management and developers on possible improvements and model usage.

You’ll play a pivotal part in connecting the 1st and 2nd lines of defense. As a connector, you’ll stimulate knowledge sharing between Model Development, Model Risk Governance & Oversight and Model Validation and are in constant contact with the Joint Supervisory Team, internal and external auditors.   • You perform quantitative statistical analyses and assess the use of a broad spectrum of models;
  • You convert your insights into clear and concise model validation reports in which you present the model risk to senior management.

About the team

Together with Model Risk Governance & Oversight, Model Validation forms Model Risk Management which is part of the second line risk management function. You’ll join a proactive and highly skilled Model Risk Management team that values collaboration, learning, and impact. We support each other’s growth, hold each other accountable, and make room for your talent and ideas. With a hybrid work model, a warm and inclusive culture, and meaningful responsibilities from day one, you’ll be empowered to make a real difference — for the bank and for society.

Your competencies

Known for your analytical skills, you have a deep love for data as well as complex regulations and guidelines. You enjoy working with numbers and have a knack for digging to the very bottom of the data mine to uncover valuable insights. While you can work independently, you also function well in a team environment. Gifted with a helicopter view, you can connect the dots and convince others of your findings.

Furthermore, you have:

  • At minimum a MSc degree with a quantitative background such as Mathematics, Econometrics, Finance, Economics, or related fields;
  • Knowledge and experience with legislation and regulations concerning models. You are familiar with CRR and the regulatory frameworks of Basel, EBA, ECB, and IFRS9;
