Are you a specialist in Linux, Security Certificates and probably RiskShield? Then we are looking for you!

As an Ops engineer, you are the specialist when it comes to keeping ASN Bank's TF and CF screening systems (RiskShield) running, secure and up-to-date. As an engineer, you work as part of a DevOps team on the deployment and solving of complex technical challenges. With your OPS colleagues, you are responsible for the availability of the applications used in the Transaction- and Client Filtering process, which are key for being WWFT compliant as ASN Bank. You will be configuring systems for unconventional challenges and ensuring that our customers can bank securely. This means standby duty also after office hours for you and your team. You perform your daily activities always in close collaboration with both your Infra/Platform colleagues within the bank and the RiskShield engineers who develop the sanctions screening software. Your main responsibilities include:

  • System monitoring and maintenance: Set up monitoring (using Grafana) and monitor the health and performance of Linux servers and applications, perform updates and patches, and manage disk space, memory, and CPU usage.
  • Problem solving and incident handling: Analyze and resolve technical problems within Linux environments, handle incident reports from users and escalations, and perform root cause analyses to prevent recurrence of problems.
  • Configuration and deployment activities: Install, configure, and manage various application components (including screening engine, data servers, Oracle database, messaging, and file transfer systems) on the Linux servers, implement deployment scripts, and ensure consistent configurations across different environments (test, acceptance, pre-production, and production).
  • Automation and scripting: Develop and maintain shell scripts and other automation solutions (particularly Ansible playbooks, BASH, and YAML scripting) to automate repetitive tasks, implement CI/CD pipelines, and ensure standardized processes for application management.

Your qualities

You are proactive, eager to learn, and enjoy working together. You are good at translating complex technical considerations into easy solutions and strive to make continuous improvements in keeping the Riskshield Engine secure and operational. You have excellent technical skills with all aspects of Linux servers and maintaining security certificates for secure communication between systems. You are used to doing standby duties and solving incidents quickly. You like to help and support your development colleagues by bringing in your technical perspective, ideas about source control, and pipelines for deployment. You create logical solutions as simple as possible and ensure they are well-documented. Additionally, you have:

  • Higher education level, preferably in computer science.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with RiskShield applications.
  • At least 2 years of programming experience (preferably Python) and knowledge of API services, databases, and messaging.
  • Experience with (Linux) server environments.
  • Experience with security certificates and how to change them.
  • Experience in incident management and continuity.
  • Good understanding of working in an agile environment.

Where You'll Work

In this role, you will join the Sanctions team. This multidisciplinary team includes business developers and IT engineers. Within an informal and open atmosphere, you will work to continuously enhance and optimize our detection systems. You will translate the policies for transactions monitoring and sanction filtering into practical and high-performance efficient solutions, ensuring compliance and the integrity of ASN Bank.
