What are you going to do?

The goal of this internship is to research existing automated GUI testing solutions—both open-source and commercial—and implement a prototype testing framework tailored to a selected application within the company.

Research Component

• Market Analysis: Investigate existing automated GUI testing tools (e.g., Selenium, TestComplete, Ranorex, Squish, Playwright, etc.).
• Company Practices: Interview team members and review internal documentation to understand which tools have been used previously, and gather feedback on their effectiveness and limitations.
• Evaluation Criteria: Define criteria for evaluating tools (e.g., ease of use, integration with CI/CD, support for different platforms, scripting capabilities, maintenance effort).

Implementation Component

• Tool Selection: Based on research, select one or more tools for prototyping.
• Test Case Definition: Choose a representative GUI application within the company (in consultation with your supervisor) and define a set of test cases (e.g., button clicks, form submissions, navigation flows).
• Automation Framework: Implement automated tests using the selected tool(s), ensuring they are maintainable and scalable.
• Documentation: Provide clear documentation of the setup, test cases, and results. Include a comparison of tools and a recommendation report.

Deliverables

• Research report summarizing findings and tool evaluations.
• Prototype implementation of automated GUI tests.
• Documentation of test cases, framework setup, and usage instructions.
• Final presentation to the team with recommendations.

What do you bring to the table?

• Bachelor or Master student in the field of Computer Science, or similar studies
• Experience with programming
• Experience with C++, C#, or Python
