Marine Operations Specialist at TenneT

At TenneT, we work every day on tomorrow’s electricity grid. Our goal? A reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy system. As a Marine Operations Specialist, you play a crucial role in realizing this ambition. Ready to make an impact?

As a Marine Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily marine activities to ensure safe and efficient operations. You will work closely with vessel crews, port authorities, and internal teams to manage logistics, compliance, and operational performance.

How will you help power the Netherlands?

As a Marine Operations Specialist, you are responsible for the safe operation of vessels around TenneT’s offshore assets — from the early development phase through to operations and maintenance. You provide vital maritime expertise that enables safe, compliant, and efficient offshore activities.

  • Maritime expertise and safety – Provide professional guidance on all marine operations, ensuring compliance with maritime rules, standards, and regulations.
  • Digitalisation of marine workflows – Develop and maintain digital tools and processes for vessel assurance, registration, and coordination, using applications such as SharePoint, MS Teams, and vessel traffic systems.
  • Technical coordination and support – Act as the key contact for technical systems including VHF, AIS, CCTV, and radar within the Marine Operations Center.
  • Documentation and process improvement – Define, implement, and continuously improve procedures and documentation related to marine operations and safety standards.
  • Stakeholder interface – Serve as a liaison between the Marine Operations Center, authorities, service providers, wind farm operators, and internal stakeholders.
  • Tender and contract support – Contribute maritime input to tenders, contracts, and strategy development.
  • Coordinate and monitor vessel movements and schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and company policies.
  • Support the planning and execution of marine operations, including cargo handling and port calls.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to marine activities.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve operational issues.
  • Participate in safety drills and promote a culture of safety on board and ashore.
  • Together with the team you are responsible for contributing to tendering procedures, contracts and strategies from a maritime perspective.
  • You will work during office hours, either from home or at location. When needed and on mutual agreements with the team, you are able to work scheduled in weekends and on call duty and are willing to travel.

You will join the Marine Operations team within Grid Field Operations Netherlands, led by Alexander Sanders van Well. Together, you ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable offshore operations that contribute directly to the success of the Dutch offshore grid. Within our team, collaboration, structure, and innovation are key.
