Join ABN AMRO Clearing as a Chapter Lead for Data & Analytics

At a glance

ABN AMRO Clearing is a global leader in the domain of clearing, offering access to a wide range of listed instruments on markets across the globe. We are driving a comprehensive IT transformation agenda from multiple perspectives: cost, application globalisation, modernisation, and regulatory requirements, all within a solid engineering culture. The Chapter Lead forms the most important connection between the developers and the Chapter Area Lead, ensuring that developers receive day-to-day coaching.

We have multiple Chapter Leads acting in areas such as Angular/Mendix, Java, Python, Integration (WebMethods/Kafka), C++, Salesforce, and Data Engineering. We are now looking for a new Chapter Lead for the Data & Analytics chapter, focusing on the creation of a Data Platform.

Your job

As Chapter Lead, you are the key link between (business) developers and the Chapter Area Lead, ensuring that (business) developers receive daily coaching. While you have limited managerial responsibilities (up to 15 FTE), you will spend about 70% of your time on non-managerial activities such as developing code, defining technical standards, and best practices. The remaining 30% of your time will be dedicated to directly coaching your Chapter members.

Your responsibilities focus on “how” within the chapter’s competence, covering way of working and people management. You are responsible for:

  • Being an active block member, bringing expertise into the block and working on day-to-day tasks from the block’s backlog
  • Defining professional standards, work methodologies, and (technical) standards within the chapter competency
  • Setting up interaction and knowledge sharing processes within the chapter
  • Aligning with peer Chapter Leads within the same expertise for knowledge sharing across chapters where applicable
  • Acting as a thought-leader within your area of expertise, guiding, motivating, and inspiring chapter members
  • Leading performance evaluation for your direct reports by coaching them on both soft and hard skills

An essential part of the Chapter Lead role is helping to develop talent within your craft. As an expert and servant leader, you coach and develop your chapter members to become better craftspeople and to find their own rewarding career paths. While you provide sparring and craft-specific support, you do not manage their day-to-day activities.

Three main types of responsibilities:

  • Define best practice way of working
  • Perform strategic workforce planning for your chapter, together with the Chapter Area Lead
  • Manage and grow people, make hiring decisions, and perform HR administrative tasks such as performance dialogs and time approvals

Working environment

Thanks to your integrity and inspirational leadership style, you motivate people to achieve their goals. You are able to exert influence in several ways to achieve the desired change or improvement, taking the opinions of others into consideration by listening carefully and seeking feedback. This enables you to achieve results without losing sight of the client’s interests and those of the bank. You have a broad interest in your own area of responsibility and in the bank as a whole, giving you a clear picture of interrelations with other areas and encouraging collaboration.

Your profile

We are looking for candidates with the following profile:

  • Proven leadership experience, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong technical background in data engineering, including experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of financial services and current trends in the field of investing/securities transactions

We are offering

  • The gross monthly salary is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and benefit budget
  • The Benefit Budget is 11% of your salary, allowing you to acquire additional employment benefits. If you make no purchases or reservations in the Benefit Shop in a given month, you are paid one twelfth of your Benefit Budget that month
  • Five weeks of vacation per year, with the option to purchase an additional four weeks per year
  • Personal development budget of €1,000 per year, which you can accumulate up to €3,000
  • Possibility to work from home (in consultation with your team and depending on your position)
  • An annual public transport pass with free public transportation throughout the Netherlands
  • An excellent pension scheme
