Ready to make a real impact? This is your chance to influence billions in assets under management while driving positive change for society.

The role

Social issues are important themes for APG—both as a company and in how we invest for our clients. We’re looking for a Social Issues Strategist to investigate how these themes could be further embedded across the entire portfolio, ensuring APG stays ahead of market developments and for its clients leads the way in responsible investing.

In this role, you’ll help translate complex trends, regulations, and methodologies into actionable policies, guiding future product and portfolio development. As the subject matter expert, you’ll keep APG at the forefront of market thinking, facilitate knowledge sharing across the organization, and advise on how APG can best use its influence in policy and standard-setting initiatives. You’ll work closely with investment teams to embed social issues into monitoring and steering of the total portfolio, thereby supporting the Investment Committee.

You’ll join the Responsible Investment Strategy & Partnerships team, a small, high-impact team that punches well above its weight. We work closely with senior leadership, asset class experts, and global partners. Expect a collaborative, forward-thinking culture where your ideas matter, your expertise is valued, and your work shapes the future of investing.

What you would do

As Social Issues Strategist, you’ll help shape APG’s long-term vision on social themes and ensure they are embedded across the portfolio. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Help position APG, investing on behalf of its clients, as a leading long-term responsible investor and define our engagement strategy with external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement and turn them into practical solutions with internal teams.
  • Ensure social issues are integrated into portfolio monitoring and steering.
  • Foster internal alignment and represent APG credibly in industry initiatives and standard-setting discussions.
  • Bring an external perspective on responsible investment-related data, systems solutions, and market trends to drive agility and efficiency.
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions with internal teams and external experts.
  • Take on tasks as needed, including survey responses and policy document updates.

What you bring

  • Master’s degree in strategy, finance, business, or sustainability.
  • 10+ years of experience in (Responsible) Investment.
  • Proven expertise on social issues in an investment or a corporate environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player and can-do attitude.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment of constant change.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Experience in engaging with standard setters is a plus.

What we offer you

We will offer you, depending on relevant knowledge and experience, a gross salary based on full-time employment and great employment conditions aimed at flexibility, such as:

  • A guaranteed end of year bonus of 8.33%
  • Attention to your vitality and personal development
  • Possibility to work from home 2-3 days per week
  • A well-managed pension
  • A generous mobility budget
  • Ability to grow your professional network internally as well as externally

Where you will work
