Context

Join a team of application engineer specialists focused on designing and implementing technical solutions to support customer needs both inside and outside of IT. You will work as part of one or multiple teams in a Release Train, executing the most complex tasks to build new solutions in line with industry standards. You will understand the application software roadmap, oversee the larger system, and support and signal problems at the Agile Release Train level. As a mentor, you will explain problems and solutions to colleagues and contribute to their competence development.

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced IT Applications Engineering professional with a relevant Master’s degree (e.g., information technology, computer science, or similar) or equivalent thinking and working level, and thorough work experience in IT applications development. You should have extensive knowledge and a deep understanding of theoretical concepts and principles, and their application in domains such as SAP/ERP, PLM, Integration/Middleware/Automation, UX design, and/or other IT applications/software development technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Software Application Roadmap
    • Support the roadmap to facilitate application software development and ensure development work is prioritized in line with business requirements.
    • Plan major changes in close consultation with other IT competences and teams.
  • Business Requirements Analysis
    • Collect existing business requirements using interviews, document analysis, and workflow analysis to express requirements clearly and succinctly.
    • Escalate issues to stakeholders or higher levels.
    • Document "as is" and "to be" processes and describe the changes required to migrate to the "to be" capability.
  • Architectural Co-design and Conceptualization
    • Produce multiple concepts and prototypes to design digital products and services.
    • Discuss and recommend technical developments to improve the quality of website, portal, application software, and supporting infrastructure to better meet users’ needs.
  • Software & Application Development
    • Design, select, implement, and support solutions in line with industry best practice and provide a third-line point of escalation for appropriate solutions.
    • Commit to targets, cost, and result.
    • Solve escalated complex problems or incidents and formulate alternative solutions.
    • List potential solutions for issues or requirements and provide well-based advice to the business on preferred solutions.
  • Testing
    • Independently perform solution tests and monitor, diagnose, and correct issues.
  • Software & Application Operations
    • Ensure the availability of services provided in cooperation with colleagues from other IT specialty areas.
    • Support data-driven analysis to identify opportunities for product or service improvement.
  • Risk & Compliance
    • Define straightforward control measures on Information Security (e.g., encryption), Data Management (build, maintain, and govern the liability of the trusted dataset), Business Continuity (e.g., back-up recovery), and Regulatory Compliancy (e.g., review privacy, retention, SOX).
    • Propose solutions to Security Experts about security risks or problems.
  • Competence Development
    • Act as a mentor towards colleagues and contribute actively to competence development.
  • Business Support (only applicable for designated regional roles)
    • Act as a regional operational business partner supporting business in efficiently executing their business processes, including supporting them in defining IT improvement.
    • Provide support to regional key users for incidents and questions, including escalation to IT support partners and vendors if required.
    • Support global and regional project initiatives from design review through testing and deployment, including training.
