This senior-level role will be pivotal in managing both direct minority investments in external ventures and commitments to health-tech-focused venture capital funds. The successful candidate will work closely with portfolio companies, fund managers, and internal Philips stakeholders to drive both strategic and financial value.

This role reports to the Head of Philips Ventures and will include collaborating closely with other members of the global Ventures team.

Key responsibilities in your role:

Investment Strategy and Execution

  • Identify, assess, and execute direct minority investments in promising early- and growth-stage health technology ventures.
  • Source and evaluate venture capital funds aligned with Philips' strategic focus areas and investment criteria.
  • Lead due diligence processes, including market, financial, technical, and legal analysis.
  • Structure investment terms and lead negotiations in close collaboration with legal and finance teams.

Portfolio Management

  • Serve as the primary contact for a portfolio of venture-backed companies and venture capital fund managers.
  • Monitor financial and strategic performance of investments, including regular reviews and reporting.
  • Support portfolio companies through board participation, strategic advice, and access to Philips' resources and networks.
  • Drive value creation initiatives, including follow-on investments, partnerships, and exits.

Strategic Collaboration and Influence

  • Collaborate with internal business units, innovation teams, and senior leadership to ensure strategic alignment of investments.
  • Communicate portfolio insights and performance to executive stakeholders.
  • Represent Philips Ventures externally at conferences, industry events, and within the venture capital ecosystem.

Governance and Process

  • Contribute to the refinement and implementation of investment policies, decision-making frameworks, and governance models.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and reporting standards.

You're the right fit:

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or corporate development, with a demonstrated focus on Health tech, MedTech or digital health.
  • Proven success in sourcing, executing, and managing equity investments in early- and growth-stage startups and/or venture funds.
  • Solid background in portfolio management, including value creation, governance, and exit strategy planning.
  • Venture-Driven and Corporate-Savvy: Adept at navigating the dynamics of the venture capital ecosystem while aligning with the structure and strategic priorities of a corporate environment.
  • Investment Acumen: Deep expertise in financial modelling, valuation methodologies, term sheet negotiations, and due diligence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of building trusted relationships with founders, investors, partners, and senior internal stakeholders.
  • Strategic & Innovative Thinking: Ability to identify and translate external innovation into strategic opportunities for Philips.
  • Entrepreneurial Drive: Proactive self-starter with a passion for innovation and emerging technologies. Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Hands-on and team-oriented, with experience working across diverse functions and geographies.
  • Personal Integrity & Curiosity: Operates with high ethical standards, intellectual curiosity, and a strong sense of ownership.
  • This is a global-facing role. Some international travel will be required to engage with portfolio companies, fund managers, and attend key events across the venture and innovation ecosystem.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

This role is an office role.
