Growth and characterization of two-dimensional materials on liquid metals
Introduction
The Faculty of Science Leiden and the Leiden Institute of Chemistry are looking for a postdoctoral researcher.
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the group of Prof. Dr. Irene M.N. Groot. The candidate will work on the growth and characterization of two-dimensional materials on liquid metal catalysts. The project will be carried out in the framework of a European project, named 2D Engine. Growth will be executed via chemical vapor deposition and the main characterization techniques are operando optical microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Part of the project will consist of using synchrotron X-ray-based techniques at the ESRF in Grenoble.
Work and Profile
Applicants should have a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field (or have submitted their thesis before the start date). Experience with growth of 2D materials, Raman spectroscopy and/or synchrotron X-ray-based techniques is an advantage. Effective communication skills to supervise and train junior researchers in the laboratory and to collaborate in a consortium are a must.
