Introduction
The Machine Control & Infrastructure (MCI) department is responsible for the definition and handling of various machine input settings. These settings are used by customers of ASML to define the structure and layout of a wafer along with all settings needed to correctly process wafers in the ASML Lithography machine. The software that handles the settings has been created many years ago and evolved ever since. The architecture of the software has gone through several iterations of improvement, where each iteration introduced a new software pattern. Strategies have been defined to migrate the software from legacy to new patterns. As of today, still not all of the migrations have been finalized, leaving a certain amount of technical-debt in the code base.
Your Assignment
One of the architectural violations that is still commonly present in the code is the direct passing of data over control interfaces, called 'data control path violations'. New patterns have been introduced that separate the data from control path. However, the department struggles with efficiently resolving the existing violations due to them being widespread in code base. Additionally, some interfaces are used in multiple other departments, creating additional challenge in solving them. Hence, this assignment's main tasks consists of:
This is a Master graduation internship for around 6 months, working 5 days per week (onsite). The start date of this internship is as soon as possible.
