The role is within software engineering within our biggest project to date, the F126 ships for the German Navy.

FüWES (Führungs- und WaffenEinsatzSystem) is the command system consisting of TACTICOS with an integrated, newly developed Fire Control solution. The development and integration of all subsystems onboard the ship, is what FüWES is all about. It accounts for the complete development cycle of products and solutions: from concept definition to system design, continuing to system integration and validation, up until the inclusion of delivery onboard the customer vessels. With the complete solution, we enable this new generation of frigates for the German Navy to have the necessary information to Defense Operators in time and to make the right decision within seconds.

To help us build and expand this system, we are looking for a

TECHNICAL PRODUCT OWNER (FÜWES)
to take part in one of our development teams, which are multidisciplinary and self-organizing Agile/Scrum teams. In addition to software development, our teams are fully responsible for various aspects, such as requirements analysis, architecture, design, testing, validation and product demonstrations. The use of high-tech techniques and software development methods is important. The software of our FüWES system is based both on Java and C++ and is supported by a modern development environment.

As a product owner you are a vital link between internal (project and product) stakeholders and their requirements, the (technical product) roadmap for your team, the product architecture and the development team. There are multiple teams within multiple sub-departments working on the same end product, so dependency management and alignment between teams and sub-departments is essential.

You plan and communicate with project deadlines in mind. You collaborate with Project Managers, your Team Manager, other POs within and outside the sub-department, but mostly with Software Engineers within your team. Your part in the delivery results comes from prioritizing, leading refinements, backlog grooming and documentation, and roadmap creation. Since we are working with classified information, we require all employees to undergo a screening by the AIVD or MIVD (level B).

In sum:

  • Agile/Scrum software development within a project organization;
  • Coordination of a highly technical Agile/Scrum team;
  • Committed deadlines on project level as well as Scrum sprints;
  • System/software specifications and requirement engineering;
  • (Functional) designs for products or components;
  • Product/team backlog captured in Jira;
  • Internal and external stakeholders;
  • Cooperate with external parties if required.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?
