About the team
The Naval Industry team is responsible and accountable for the on-time production and delivery of the Thales Naval products within in cost and first-time right. To realize this the Naval Industry team is strongly and closely cooperating with the other departments (e.g. Engineering, Procurement, Product Segments) within Thales Naval. As Thales Naval we foster a strong growth in demand to our products and to secure this growth the Industry organization will be become production line oriented. To ensure the availability of materials and smooth working supply chain with our suppliers, we are looking for a Supply Chain Manager for Racks & Cabinets.

The APRU Racks & Cabinets is part of our Industry department within Thales Hengelo and consists of a team of 55 enthusiastic employees. Together they ensure that 300 different racks, cabinets and cable bundles are carefully assembled and tested. These products are produced both internally and externally under the responsibility of the APRU.

About your future job

Supply Chain Manager bears the main responsibility for the right conditions to ensure the APRU is able to deliver according to their commitments (Time, Cost, Quality) by organizing a reliable planning, documentation, timely availability of parts in right quantity and quality as well as organizing all other supply chain related tasks. He/She has strong interactions with various participants in the supply chain, from suppliers to customers but also with the Supply Chain Managers of the various end products. He/she is in charge of the professionalization of his/her reference profession with the assigned team and make sure that the processes are followed (support for objectives, one way of working, responses to Andon, adoption of commitments and pace of production, etc.) to guarantee their autonomy.

The Supply Chain Manager is hierarchically reporting to the Managers of the Supply Chain Mangers but has also an operational reporting line to the APRU (autonomous Production and Repair Unit) Manager.

  • Contribute to the agreed Industrial production plan and ensure a reliable and predictable Production Plan (PP) and/or Repairs Plan (RP).
  • Contribute to the development of the APRU supply chain businesses (resources, means, etc.) & investments, etc.): Logistics, Procurement (with Purchasing), Planning.
  • Ensure the efficiency of physical flows and flows of related information in terms of external/internal input/output in accordance with the Industrial Plan.
  • Support end-to-end implementation of the Lean process.
  • Plan all needs including replacements and repairs in the Procurement and Production Plan by drawing on the entity’s ERP.
  • Ensure that inventory levels are appropriate to APRU needs and contribute to continuous improvement in the functional area so as to reduce WIP, inventories and lead time in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Initiate approaches to improve performance within his/her scope.
  • Guarantee the operation of the interfaces his/her scope (other Thales departments, purchasing, Sales Administration activity.).
  • Monitor customer satisfaction indicators of the APRU, particularly customer OTD (On Time Delivery), and initiate corrective actions if necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with the regulatory framework for incoming and outgoing flows
  • Propose changes to ERP to reflect the performance of his/her activity.
  • Propose and implement, with the help of the Supply Chain Architect, an extended flow logic among suppliers through Milk Run or VMI systems.

Ensure that the participants in his/her scope (Master Planner, Manufacturing planner, Tactical Buyer, Technical Work preparation, Logistics and APRU manager):

  • Analyze the match of internal capacity load per workstation with common competencies,
  • Analyze the adequacy of internal means of production: industrial resources and infrastructure.
  • Analyze the adequacy of Supplier capacity.

  • Master’s or Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent
  • You have a strong affinity with Supply Chain and experience with High mix / Low volumes production type
  • You define yourself as a customer-oriented person and you have the flexibility to be able to act constructively in an environment with different types and levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, collaborative, result oriented and decisive
  • A good command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing is necessary to fulfill the job.
