Join Adyen’s Legal Team

This is Adyen

Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.

For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.

About the team

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Corporate Counsel to join our global Corporate Legal team. You will guide and advise the business on disputes, litigation and proactively counsel the company on matters that may become litigious. The role requires someone with a sound knowledge of Dutch law and a strong litigation background. Ideally, you will also have experience in anti-trust or competition law disputes.

In this role, you will be based in Amsterdam, or willing to relocate to Amsterdam. The Corporate Legal team operates as a global team with staff in the Netherlands and the United States. An ideal candidate will have a passion for our business and you would like to contribute to its mission to ensure the further growth of Adyen.

What you will do:

  • Advise the business on litigation matters, disputes and escalations.
  • Assist the company in its response to legal notices, third party liens and information requests.
  • Collaborate with the business to ensure that Adyen is proactively covering risk areas following the conclusion of a litigation matter.
  • Advise the company on competition related matters and support with ad hoc inquiries.
  • Provide legal support to the broader Corporate legal team on several projects and initiatives.
  • Engage with and manage external counsel in litigation matters.
  • Keep abreast of developments in Dutch and European courts regarding payments litigation and strategically advise the business of developments in the field.

Who you are:

  • You have 4+ years of post-qualification experience.
  • Strong disputes experience, with experience in litigation and Dutch court processes.
  • You are a team player who likes to collaborate and include different people to sharpen your ideas.
  • You have the ability to structure and prioritize in a high volume, fast-paced environment and build and drive processes to completion.
  • You are available to work from our Amsterdam office.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion commitments

Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. This diversity of backgrounds and cultures is essential in helping us maintain our momentum. Our business and technical challenges are unique, and we need as many different voices as possible to join us in solving them - voices like yours. No matter who you are or where you’re from, we welcome you to be your true self at Adyen.

Studies show that women and members of underrepresented communities apply for jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. Does this sound like you? If so, Adyen encourages you to reconsider and apply. We look forward to your application!

This role is based out of our Amsterdam office. We are an office-first company and value in-person collaboration; we do not offer remote-only roles.

The Adyen Formula

The way we work is guided by the eight principles of the Adyen Formula.

To build the world's most customer-focused financial technology platform, we need as many different perspectives as possible. We’re looking for people from all sorts of backgrounds to contribute.

We took an unobvious approach to starting a payments company, building a platform from scratch. Today, we're the payments platform of choice for the world's brightest companies. Our unobvious approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. This diversity, of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives, is essential in helping us maintain our momentum.
