Legal Counsel at Vanderlande

The department of Global General Counsel & Compliance is looking for a skilled Legal Counsel to provide pragmatic and solution-driven legal support and advice to our supply chain organization in the Netherlands.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in international contracting and cross border transactions, regulatory compliance, and risk management. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our international procurement processes are legally sound and aligned with our strategic objectives in relation to our international projects and life cycle services.

You will be a pro-active legal business and sparring partner to the Vanderlande supply chain organization and your focus will be on providing professional and solution-driven legal support for the business on a broad range of legal matters.

You will be part of the Legal & Compliance team at Vanderlande’s headquarter in Veghel, the Netherlands. You will closely work together with the other team members of the Legal & Compliance department around the globe, e.g. in the US, Spain and Germany.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on, draft, review, and negotiate on a variety of international contracts and agreements, such as purchase agreements, framework agreements and templates.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Providing legal advice in respect of Vanderlande’s procurement activities for its global projects and life cycle services, and on procurement strategies and risk management.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and address their procurement needs.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in procurement laws and regulations.
  • Handle disputes and litigation related to procurement activities.
  • Develop, implement and maintain procurement policies and procedures.
  • Act as a point of contact for the supply chain organization to advise and assist on contractual issues arising during the execution of procurement related contracts.
  • Liaise with other supporting departments, e.g. finance and tax, in order to ensure effective risk-management.

What do we need from you?

  • Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Ability to advise, draft, review, and negotiate on a variety of international (procurement) contracts and agreements for cross border transactions.
  • Support our Supply Chain Organization with all legal matters by giving pro-active, professional and solution-oriented support.
  • Legal Awareness: Create and facilitate legal awareness and update the organization on changes in applicable laws and regulations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations to ensure compliance in procurement activities and our Good Business practices.
  • Risk Management: Skills in identifying and managing legal risks associated with procurement processes.
  • Dispute Resolution: Experience in handling disputes and litigation related to procurement activities.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with internal stakeholders and external parties.
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyse complex legal issues and provide sound and pragmatic legal advice and problem solving.
  • Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in legal documents and compliance with policies.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to develop practical solutions to legal challenges in procurement.

What should you have (expertise, education)

  • You hold a master's degree in law.
  • You have at least 5 to 7 years of professional experience as an in-house counsel or lawyer in an international (industrial) environment covering one or more of the responsibilities listed above. You are fluent in English. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
  • You have strong written and oral communication and relational skills.
  • Affinity and a proven experience with the (international) contracting/engineering industry, and procurement in general.
  • You are customer-oriented and known as a problem-solver that searches for practical solutions.
  • You have an eye for detail, who is result-oriented and works efficiently.
  • You are well organized and stress resistant, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • You are assertive, self-confident and a true team player, and at the same time you are able to work autonomously.
  • You are flexible to travel for a limited period if required.

This position offers a competitive salary range of € 6281 – 8525 gross per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance). Through exceeding performance expectations, you even have the possibility to grow outside this scale.
