Scaling Up
To strengthen our global technology leadership, we are looking for an experienced engineering leader with a strategic mindset and a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach to fulfill the role of Head of Engineering. You will play a key role in scaling our platform, growing our engineering capabilities, and shaping the future of surgical technology—making a real impact on healthcare worldwide!

Role Overview

As Head of Engineering, you'll be responsible for leading and scaling Incision’s technology function to deliver robust, scalable, and high-performing products that meet the demands of our customers in hospitals and surgical teams across the world. You'll bridge hands-on technical leadership with organizational development. Your initial focus will be to optimize our architecture, improve velocity, and align engineering outcomes with business priorities.

To ensure a deep understanding of our systems and processes, we're looking for a leader who is initially willing to actively immerse themselves within our development teams. You'll be instrumental in accelerating Incision’s capabilities in AI and OR integrations, supporting our ambition to lead the next wave of innovation in surgical education and workflow support. As Head of Engineering, you'll be fundamental in streamlining and enhancing our software development lifecycle. Your leadership will ensure our engineering efforts are aligned with strategic business objectives, enabling us to achieve our goals with greater efficiency and impact. You'll work closely with the Product, Commercial, and Customer teams.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Tech Ownership

• Own our software architecture, ensuring it is scalable, modular, and optimized for long-term growth.
• Lead critical technical decision-making that aligns with our business objectives.
• Introduce smart and innovative technologies into our products, such as AI, to serve our users as optimally as possible.
• Partner with GTM teams to shape a long-term strategic vision that supports innovation and growth.
• Participate in client-facing meetings to understand their technology needs and communicate the design and rationale of our technical architecture.

Team Development & Structure

• Design and implement the future engineering organization, combining internal vs. external development.
• Lead the recruitment of new engineering talent.
• Foster an engineering culture of ownership, excellence, and continuous improvement.

• Lead deployment modernization to accelerate releases and streamline code delivery.
• Champion technical decision documentation to create organizational memory and support future decision-making

Job Requirements

What You Bring 💪

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering roles, including at least 5 years in engineering leadership positions
• Proven success leading SaaS product engineering teams, preferably in healthcare or mission-critical domains
• Experience with AWS-based microservices architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and full-stack development
• Demonstrated ability to manage both internal and external development teams

Skills

• Strong architectural insight with the ability to balance speed, quality, and cost in technical decisions
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development abilities
• Understanding of DevOps, infrastructure management, and cloud cost optimization
• Effective communicator with ability to align diverse stakeholders around a technical strategy
• Proven track record of delivering complex products with cross-functional teams
