This is your chance to shape a pioneering SAF facility that’s set to become a benchmark for the industry.

About the role

Are you a driven and experienced operations leader ready to play a key role in building and running our first SAF plant? As Plant Manager, you will lead the development of the production organization and ensure operational readiness for our new facility in Delfzijl, which is expected to be operational in 2027/2028. This role offers a rare opportunity to build an operations team from scratch, influence critical startup decisions, and manage a high-impact, future-facing facility.

You will report directly to the Site Director and become a member of the DSL-01 Management Team. In this role, you will oversee the production, engineering, maintenance, and laboratory departments. From day one, you’ll work closely with the project organization and ensure the smooth transition into plant operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop the operational vision, strategy, and KPIs for DSL-01.
  • Lead the hiring, training, and development of the production, engineering, maintenance, and laboratory teams.
  • Build and implement the Operations Readiness Plan, ensuring that all procedures, systems, and resources are in place before plant startup.
  • Oversee the safe, efficient, and first-time-right commissioning and startup of the facility.
  • Select and implement key software tools supporting engineering, production, maintenance, and laboratory activities.
  • Collaborate closely with the EPC contractor (Technip) during execution phases.
  • Ensure all operational targets (e.g. safety, output, availability) are met and continuously improved.

Your profile

As a growing company in a rapidly developing industry, we are looking for someone who enjoys building things from the ground up and thrives in change. Ideally, you recognize yourself in the following:

Must-haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Chemical, Mechanical Engineering).
  • 10+ years of experience in operations or plant management in the petrochemical industry.
  • Proven experience with commissioning, startup, and asset readiness of complex production facilities.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and ability to build, inspire and guide multidisciplinary teams.
  • Industry-recognized professional qualification and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in renewable fuels or SAF production.
  • Familiarity with commissioning software and digital operational systems.
  • Knowledge of Dutch regulations and safety procedures for industrial plants.

Traits & soft skills

  • A hands-on and proactive approach.
  • Strong ability to motivate and develop others.
  • Strategic thinker who can execute with precision.
  • Resilient, flexible, and excited by the pace and challenge of scale-up environments.
