Noise Mitigation Lead

We are seeking a professional individual to lead our noise program, aimed at improving, structuring, and expanding our noise mitigation activities and organization. This will be based in our Zoetermeer office.

Noise mitigation is essential for offshore wind development, using various techniques during construction to protect marine ecosystems and comply with environmental regulations, while noise mitigation is also needing to balance renewable energy growth with marine conservation.

The Noise Mitigation Lead will oversee novel noise technology development activities and represent Seaway7 in relevant external initiatives (~60% of the role) while supporting core business activities such as tenders and projects (~40% of the role).

You will be Seaway7’s primary point of contact for noise-related matters, and will be part of the Technology group – which reports into the Chief Commercial Officer of Seaway7.

What will you be doing?

Novel Technology Development and External Engagement (~60% of the role):

• Technology Roadmap and Budgeting: In collaboration with Technology leadership, define and implement the Noise Mitigation strategy and roadmap with its budget.
• Market Connectivity and Knowledge Maintenance: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of market trends, regulation and government positions, stay updated with the latest Noise Mitigation solutions by engaging with suppliers and clients.
• Collaboration Management: Evaluate promising novel Noise Mitigation solutions proposed by external stakeholders, develop business cases and produce associated deliverables.
• Knowledge Centre: Establish a centralized Knowledge Centre for Noise Mitigation to facilitate structured knowledge sharing.

Seaway7 Business Activities (~40% of the role):

• Operational Execution: Deliver technical scopes of work and recommend optimal noise mitigation solutions, working closely with supporting engineers. Engage in risk management tasks and participate to site visits and offshore work as needed. Monitor performance targets, and conduct regular audits.
• Subcontractor Evaluation: Conduct technical evaluations of subcontractor proposals with supporting engineers. Participate in technical and contract negotiations with the SCM team, interfacing with tendering and project teams, relevant engineering teams, subcontractors, and clients.
• Documentation and Reporting: Create and approve relevant documentation for noise mitigation, collaborating with supporting engineers, and aligned with industry standards.

What experience would we like you to have?

• Background in acoustics, noise mitigation technologies, and the offshore energy/marine industry.
• Understanding of offshore wind market trends, regulations, and major companies.
• Experience in operational roles, including offshore work.
• Effective leadership and project management experience.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
• Ability to balance a passion for technology with a commercial business mindset.
