Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Business Intelligence of SGS Natural Resources global business, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth, overseeing the strategic direction, operations, and financial performance of the business unit that focuses on data-driven initiatives.

You will develop and implement data strategies, manage teams, and ensure alignment with the company goals, particularly those related to data management, analytics, and insights. You will collaborate with other SGS business units to identify synergies and unlock new revenue opportunities across the full spectrum of commodity value chains.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow our commodities data business unit across international markets
  • Manage a high-performing team across regions, including sales, analytics, and delivery
  • Identify new revenue opportunities from data assets
  • Lead the end-to-end sales cycle from prospecting and pitch to negotiation and contract closure
  • Build strong relationships with strategic customers and partners across geographies
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for clients, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and growth
  • Monitor account performance, usage metrics, and proactively identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities
  • Oversee and manage data management and quality initiatives
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including performance tracking, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, Sales, Marketing and Legal to ensure seamless delivery and compliance
  • Collaborate with other business units and stakeholders to plan and implement data-driven initiatives
  • Ensure efficient roll-out and delivery of services across the network
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest data technologies and trends and recommend and implement new solutions as needed
  • Ensure data governance and privacy regulations are adhered to globally

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of data-driven products and services
  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Leadership experience managing cross-functional and cross-cultural teams
  • 8+ years of experience in data monetization, strategy, or managing a business preferably in the natural resources industry (mining and metals, energy, chemical, agricultural commodities)
  • Proven ability to inspire and lead a team towards a common vision and goals
  • Post-graduate degree preferably in business, data science, computer science, or a related field
  • Strong degree of autonomy, ability to work across organisations and industries and different stakeholder groups
  • Fluency in English, additional languages a plus
  • Familiarity with AI/ML models a plus
  • Capacity to travel internationally when needed
