Job Description:

What will you do?

As a regulatory affairs officer, you analyse complex regulatory texts and the impact thereof on NIBC. As part of the team, you will be involved in the following activities:

  • Tracking regulatory developments with the assistance of regulatory change management tooling;
  • Assessing the legal impact of financial regulatory laws, with the emphasis on conduct related laws (gedragstoezicht), including financial markets regulation, and supporting colleagues across the bank who assess the operational impact;
  • Assisting with the implementation of new regulatory changes;
  • Stakeholder management within the regulatory change process;
  • Contributing to reporting on regulatory change to senior management; and
  • Providing ad-hoc legal regulatory advice to various departments within the bank on conduct related regulation.

You will join a small team which will ensure that you get a chance to work on a broad range of regulatory topics.

As the policy management function is also located within the Regulatory Affairs team, you may also be involved in some policy management activities.

Your team

The Regulatory Affairs team consists of 5 colleagues and is part of the Compliance & Regulatory Affairs department of around 15 colleagues, including staff at NIBC’s international offices in Frankfurt, London and Brussels. The team is relatively small and has an open and informal atmosphere.

As a bank, NIBC is subject to a large number of supervisory and regulatory requirements. The regulatory affairs officers in the Regulatory Affairs team work together with the team and colleagues from other departments to ensure that the bank is on top of regulatory change. You will report to the Head of Regulatory Affairs, and you will actively cooperate with the other members of the Regulatory Affairs team, and with colleagues across other departments affected by regulation, including Legal and Compliance.

NIBC as employer

Founded in 1945 to finance the visionary entrepreneurs who helped rebuilding the Netherlands after the second World War, NIBC was closely collaborating while professionally supporting companies and individuals in realizing their dreams and goals with a sustainable future in mind. As a midsize bank with a multicultural working environment that is best described as dynamic and ambitious, we share a forward-thinking, can-do attitude with our employees and clients which we call our THINK YES mentality. Our corporate values are Professional, Adaptive, Collaborative and Entrepreneurial. You will have a direct and meaningful impact on both the bank and its clients. By building our company on optimism and mutual trust, and with our THINK YES mentality, NIBC is an enterprising bank that enables ambitions.

What’s in it for you?

NIBC provides an ambitious environment where together we strive to create a workplace in which you feel safe and challenged to be the best version of yourself. This is in line with Professional, Adaptive, Collaborative and Entrepreneurial, since you are in the lead of setting the PACE of your career at NIBC.

In addition, you receive a competitive salary plus:

  • Several ways to support your development personally and professionally, such as a personal development budget to spend at your own discretion, professional budget provided by your manager to develop yourself in your work, and an in-house learning offering;
  • NIBC embraces the Hybrid way of Working. This means that we support working from home as well as encourage our colleagues to come to the office. NIBC's guideline is to spend at least half of the working time at the office;
  • Travel expenses or NS Business Card 1st class;
  • 32 vacation days (which do not have to be registered);
  • Excellent pension scheme (26% NIBC contribution);
  • A voucher to improve your home office;
  • The opportunity to take ownership and show initiative in your role. We are always open to new ideas, and encourage to use your voice;

  • Excellent facilities at the office (CoffeeCorner, Restaurant, Exchange bar); and
  • Last but not least, a fun workplace in which diversity and inclusion is valued.

What do you bring?

Next to your regulatory knowledge, you have an eye for detail, but you also do not lose sight of the bigger picture of the regulatory framework and regulators’ intention with the rules. You have the ability to simplify complex matters when informing colleagues about regulatory developments. In short, you know what regulatory change means for the bank and you aspire to be a trusted advisor on regulatory topics to your colleagues, in order to take the bank to the next level working together towards timely implementation and compliancy with new legislation. You keep cool in stressful times and have a proactive attitude; you involve the right people and know how to proactively follow up on issues.

You recognize yourself in most of the below capabilities:
