About Damen Services

Damen Services provides its services to the customers of Damen Shipyards as a total services solution provider. Damen Services is responsible for carrying out a wide range of service activities worldwide and on a commercial basis, resulting from the start-up, deployment, and lifetime extension of delivered installations/vessels. Commissioning, repair, warranty, service, and maintenance activities are the most prominent of these. Also, the realization of training for crews, the delivery of ships, maintenance management, and the supply of parts during (new) construction are part of the services portfolio. Finally, as a business partner of Damen Shipyards' customers, Damen Services also realizes structural and long-term projects.

About the AMD Department

The Asset Management Design (AMD) department is part of Damen Services. The department is responsible for developing and supplying asset management solutions for our customers. This includes products such as spare part packages, vessel operating manuals, maintenance plans, and maintenance analysis. The products are created in multi-disciplinary teams.

The Role

As a Technical Writer at Damen Services, you will create clear and unambiguous content for vessel operating manuals and other ship-related documentation and information products. Your work will ensure that our customers have the information they need to operate and maintain their vessels efficiently and safely.

Key Accountabilities:

Innovate and Create

  • Develop new documentation and improve or customize existing documentation.
  • Create clear and unambiguous content for vessel operating manuals and other ship documentation.
  • Collect necessary information through literature study, SME interviews, and subject research.
  • Capture content and resources that are relevant to the audience.

Specify and Analyze

  • Understand our writing style guide and contribute to its refinement.
  • Analyze and assess regulations and provisions stated by equipment manufacturers.
  • Consider relevant laws and regulations.

Manage and Collaborate

  • Manage your own projects, including planning and budget.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers in a respectful manner.
  • Be part of a team, but also complete projects independently.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for pioneers who dare to innovate and take ownership. To excel in this role, you should:

  • Be able to work at an HBO level.
  • Have completed a technical education.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience as a Technical Author.
  • Experience with XML, DITA, and CCMS is a plus.
  • Be able to write clearly and concisely in English and Dutch. Experience with STE is a plus.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Thrive in both team settings and independent projects.
  • Adapt well to shifting priorities.
