About this job

We are currently looking for a System Architect to join the team in Delft.

As a Software Architect working on CubeSats, you will be responsible for overseeing the mission-specific software, firmware, and gateware functionalities and how they impact the system-level performance. Your focus will be on the architectural design and integration of those unique, mission-specific functionalities.

These are the main challenges you will find:

  • Inclusion of a new, integrated CDH&TTC subsystem.
  • Implementation of redundancy.
  • Implementation of a dual redundant Communication-Bus.
  • Operational Science as a Service requirements.
  • Following the requirements from the customers on Product Assurance, process and development.

Main responsibilities

  • You will perform the flowdown of system requirements to subsystem requirements for the software/firmware/gateware items in the product tree.
  • You will define the development approach for the software/firmware/gateware items in the product tree. You will communicate and align with customers to define it.
  • You will coordinate the development of the delegated items as part of the lower levels of the product tree.
  • Especially during at the beginning, you will focus on the processes - how software is written, the necessary standards, draft of the framework, etc.
  • After the first two years, you will focus more on the software part.

Requirements

We are looking for you if:

  • You have a relevant education in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or similar fields, or comparable working experience.
  • You’re a systems thinker who can zoom out and see the big picture — architecture, interaction, performance, and process.
  • You have proven experience working as an Architect, defining the structure and interaction of software/firmware/gateware components and making high-level decisions on the design.
  • Experience in the Space industry and its standards (e.g. ECSS) is highly preferable.
  • You have excellent communication skills in English.
  • You live and breathe space. Just hearing the word “satellite” gets your heart racing.
  • You thrive in a high-energy, dynamic environment where passion and practicality rule.
