Join us on our mission!
Working at Lightyear is a unique experience. You get the opportunity to work for a company with a pure and meaningful mission. A mission that will make a positive and lasting impact on future generations.
As a System Architect Power Electronics, you will become part of the engineering team at Lightyear. In this role, you will help grow the electronics department and lead the power electronics development within the company. You will work closely together with the Software, Test & Simulations, Applications, and Commercial/Sales teams to balance both current market demands and shape the roadmap for further development and products.
You are responsible for all electronics development, which includes mainly power converters, but also telematics and control devices. Your goal is to architect and develop the electronics system in such a way as to maximize the performance (cost/efficiency) of the overall solar system and ensure modularity for different vehicle platforms and solar panel sizes.
After the standup with the team in the morning you start with some simulations for the new multiport converter concept, to prepare for the brainstorm session you have organized in the afternoon to discuss modularity for varying panel sizes and integration with different OEM platforms. You will round out the morning with some interviews for new candidates on your team, a conversation with the sales and commercial teams, or engage in a strategy session with the management.
After having lunch with the team you still have some time left to review the PCB design for the Telematics Control Unit that you commissioned at a supplier. The brainstorm gives some interesting new ideas, so you spend the rest of your time to write an invention disclosure and doing some calculations to check if the concept will work.
In order to succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear; pro-activity, professionalism, communication and adaptability are crucial. We are looking for someone with an ambitious attitude who learns from the past but who is especially open to transforming new developments or ideas into the ‘tried and tested’ of the future! You thrive on working team based, but working independently should come naturally to you. You are flexible and can work under pressure and you are not afraid of failing along the way. Furthermore, we are looking for someone with:
