We are currently looking for a Project Manager to join the team in Delft.

As a Project Manager, your main task will be to ensure that technology development projects are delivered on time and within budget, meeting the project goals with high quality. You will work mainly with space or ground-based optical/optomechatronic systems. The nature of the projects is diverse, all of them on the edge of what is technically possible today. Therefore, your day-to-day will rarely be repetitive, working on innovative and technically challenging and dynamic projects, with plenty of room for creativity.

Main responsibilities

  • You will manage multidisciplinary project teams of scientists, developers and engineers as well as stakeholders in complex international coalitions. Typical customers will include existing partners in the institutional market and, increasingly, commercial businesses who enter the market for ground-based astronomy, satellite communication and Earth Observation.
  • Partners may include manufacturing companies (involved in the production of instruments), large mission primes (satellite integration) and universities for the basic research.
  • Your team will work on the commercial acquisition of projects.
  • You will write proposals and travel internationally to visit customers.

Requirements

  • You have an educational degree in a technical discipline.
  • You have at least 7 years of project management experience in the space sector or a relevant one.
  • You have experience working with different kinds of stakeholders, including agencies and large organizations.
  • You have the ability and interest to develop new ways of working to ensure projects can be executed with short turnaround times.
  • You bring a proven track record of managing complex projects and teams within the space domain or relevant areas.
  • You are excellent at communicating on a strategic level with challenging partners.
  • Your communication skills are strong and sharp, structured and pragmatic.
  • You feel comfortable with uncertainty due to the unique nature of the topics that the projects tackle.
  • You have working experience with Project Management methodologies. IPMA, PMP or Prince2 are a plus.

Our story

At S[&T] we contribute to a safer life on earth by translating space data into valuable and actionable insights. We oversee data from instruments to application, and apply our expertise within our software frameworks, information products and consultancy.

Our society relies on space and scientific instruments for climate change monitoring, navigation, defence and national security, and other crucial services we all use in our daily lives. These instruments produce an enormous quantity of complex data, and our goal is to unlock its value.

We have more than 20 years of experience working on instrument calibration, the creation of data quality monitoring tools, the development of real-time data processing frameworks, and the development of application-specific algorithms. With this, we help organisations, governments and industries to strengthen their information position and thereby improve their decision making. We focus on the following domains: Space & Science, Defence & Security, Environment & Sustainability, and High-Tech Consulting.
