Software Engineering Internship: Driver Base-Classes

Introduction

The Embedded Software EUV Department delivers integrated embedded software solutions that support the business success of ASML. For our application driver development, we currently make use of an MDE (Model Driver Engineering) tool that generates code from models (diagrams). Although this allows us to create the bulk of the driver quickly, it has some efficiency issues. As an alternative, we have begun developing so-called driver base-classes in C++. As an intern, you will get a chance to extend and improve the existing driver base classes. The internship offers an exciting opportunity to support the Embedded Software EUV Department and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment.

Your Assignment

You will focus on the following key responsibilities:

  • Gather requirements for the functionality that should be provided by the base classes and project specificities;
  • Gather information on the current state of the driver classes;
  • Extend/complete the driver base-classes;
  • Create a proof of concept by porting (parts of) an existing driver;
  • Create a transition plan for existing drivers.

This is a bachelor (apprentice/graduation) internship for at least 6 months for 5 days a week (4 days onsite). The start date of this internship is as soon as possible.

Your Profile

To be a fit for this assignment, you:

  • Are a bachelor student in Software Engineering, ICT, or similar;
  • Have experience with Object Oriented and C++;
  • Have affinity with Linux and (embedded) driver development;
  • Are proactive, well-organized, stress resilient;
  • Have great communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

Other Requirements You Need to Meet

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. In case you’re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
