At Float IoT, we are looking for a Junior Java Developer to join our IoT Gatekeeper team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in backend development, and real-time data processing, all while working in a supportive and collaborative environment.

As part of the team, you’ll contribute to the development and optimization of the IoT Gatekeeper, our secure, scalable platform that enables water utilities to manage their connected devices efficiently. You’ll work with modern technologies, learn from experienced developers, and have a clear path for career growth.

What you’ll do

• Develop and maintain Java-based backend services for the IoT Gatekeeper.
• Methodically identify and resolve issues, ensuring high system reliability.
• Gain experience with RESTful APIs, PostgreSQL, and distributed systems.
• Collaborate with senior developers and grow your skills in scalable backend architecture.
• Work on solutions that securely manage thousands of connected devices in water utility networks.

What you bring

• 2+ years of Java development experience.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to debugging.
• Familiarity with Git and version control best practices.
• Eager to learn about Kafka, TimescaleDB (PostgreSQL), and Docker – experience is a plus!
• Enthusiasm for IoT, distributed systems, and real-world problem-solving.

• The IoT Gatekeeper is Float IoT’s dedicated IoT platform for managing and securing connected water utility devices. It provides:
• Centralized device authentication for secure access management.
• Event-driven data processing using Apache Kafka.
• Real-time monitoring and analytics for large-scale water distribution networks, handling hundreds of millions of messages.
