Heerema’s Finance Director will be a key member of the leadership team and must fit in the organisational culture where integrity, entrepreneurship, cooperation, and flexibility are core competencies. In an ever-evolving environment, the Finance Director will guide business planning, act as a trusted advisor to the board, and serve as the CFO’s right hand.

This role is central to the overall management and strategic direction of the company, working closely with the team to establish and maintain robust financial, administrative, risk and control systems. Responsibilities include (providing leadership to) managing budgets, conducting cost-benefit analyses, forecasting financial needs, optimizing the company’s financing structure, managing treasury operations, transitioning the company from value to cost based and driving the finance digitalization roadmap.

The Finance Director will also be responsible for the company’s financial and CRSD reporting, setting short- and long-term financial goals, and defining performance metrics.

Leading an international team across Finance & Control, Treasury, and Tax, the Finance Director will play a vital role in ensuring the company’s financial health and strategic success.

Are you the Finance Director that we’re looking for?

We are looking for a finance leader who will:

  • Lead the development and continuous evaluation of the organization’s short- and long-term financial strategies;
  • Deliver accurate and timely analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts;
  • Direct & manage all aspects of Finance & Accounting functions and systems;
  • Drive strategic change in cost management and financial planning to achieve performance targets in a shifting environment (from value-based to cost-based);
  • Build & maintain strong relationships with senior leadership to identify needs and deliver comprehensive business solutions;
  • Provide strategic advice on the financial implications of business decisions and activities;
  • Perform revenue modeling & risk analysis to evaluate business opportunities;
  • Manage financial forecasting, budgeting, consolidation, and reporting processes;
  • Recommend strategies to optimize financial performance and identify new business opportunities;
  • Ensure robust internal controls and full compliance with regulatory and tax requirements;
  • Oversee CSRD compliance, ensuring accurate sustainability data collection and reporting to stakeholders;

Functie eisen

You’re an entrepreneurial business driven Finance Director with an international track record in a dynamic and changing environment. Do you recognize yourself in this?

  • Master’s Degree in Business Economics or Business Administration;
  • An all-round finance leader with at least 5 years of experience in a similar position, leading teams in an international environment with proven business acumen;
  • Experience in comparable sectors such as maritime sector, construction and/or (renewable) energy;
  • Familiar with the dynamics of a family business (active DGA) and experience with change and transformation;
  • Experience with capital intensive ‘asset heavy’ balance sheet and compliance and project businesses;
  • Experience in ESG/CSRD reporting and sustainability frameworks
  • Living in the Netherlands (or willing to relocate).
