Test Manager – GSAM Data Migration Project (Investment Operations) Freelance

We are seeking an experienced Test Manager to lead the testing efforts for a critical data migration project in Investment operations. This project involves testing the Asset Manager’s change of systems and eventual migration of data from the asset manager into our operational systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leading test management, data validation, data processing, in financial services, particularly in asset management or investment operations.

What you are going to do

Test Strategy and Planning

• Develop and implement a comprehensive test strategy and test plans tailored to the data migration project
• Define the testing scope, objectives, and success criteria
• Identify required testing tools, resources, and environments

Test Management and Execution

• Manage the end-to-end testing lifecycle, including unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), data validation, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Oversee the creation of test cases, scripts, and scenarios based on business and technical requirements
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and completeness of test data

Data Validation and Quality Assurance

• Validate the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of migrated data, ensuring alignment with business rules and requirements
• Perform reconciliation of financial data between original data source, new data source and target systems

Defect Management

• Identify, document, and track defects or issues that arise during the testing process
• Work with the development team to resolve these issues and ensure they are fixed before the final migration

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with project managers, business analysts, developers, and business teams to ensure alignment of testing objectives
• Facilitate UAT sessions with business users and coordinate defect management and resolution

Risk Management and Reporting

• Identify testing risks and dependencies, proposing mitigation strategies
• Monitor and report testing progress, key metrics, and outcomes to project team and management

Who you are

Essential Skills:

• Proven experience as a Test Manager in data migration projects in the financial services industry
• Extensive understanding of investment operations and data flows from asset managers
• Strong expertise in data quality assurance, validation, and reconciliation techniques
• Proficiency in testing tools
• Knowledge of financial instruments, portfolio management systems, and transaction lifecycles
• Experience working with regulatory and compliance requirements in financial services

Education and Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, or a related field
• A relevant testing and defect management qualification

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
