Do you want to conceive and develop technologically complex Offshore Energy projects? Do you want to contribute to sustainability? After winning a project, you are responsible for figuring out the competitive advantage. How cool is that! This is your role as Production Engineer Offshore Energy.

The position

As Production Engineer Offshore Energy, you will be responsible for analysing and setting up production calculations and working methods for new projects. These projects are technologically complex and related to cable laying, cable burial and pipeline installation projects. You specialise in a wide variety of projects that challenge your analytical skills and creativity. You will do this in close collaboration with various other disciplines within the company. The diversity ranges from cable and pipe installation in relatively easy geotechnical conditions to highly geologically complex sites, which require customised burial solutions. These projects are usually based on in-house equipment, but might also include other (large) types of equipment available within the fleet whenever necessary. The Offshore Energy division is inherently committed to innovative solutions, leading to Van Oord's competitive advantage.

Your impact

- Support our commercial department and project teams in both the tendering and execution phases by interpreting large amounts of data.
- Interpreting and analysing the available documents and equipment. - Ensuring an efficient, robust, competitive production process in terms of combination of equipment and logistic paths. - Using, implementing and improving the in-house production estimating software - Prepare and present produced deliverables to potential (internal) customers. - Experience projects in real-time when visiting Offshore Energy equipment in order to gain and expand knowledge.

You may occasionally visit projects in execution to advise the project team and ship's crew on potential optimizations. During these visits, you will actively follow-up on the production and installation process and work methods. This to enhance corporate knowledge sharing and to secure (practical) knowledge into the corporate production databases as a basis for future tenders.

About you

The position Production Engineer Offshore Energy is based in Gorinchem. You will be part of the Offshore Energy Production Team within the Engineering and Estimating Department. There is an open, dynamic and informal atmosphere within the team, where collaborating and helping each other wherever possible are important values.

You have the desire and interest to further develop yourself as an all-round sparring partner for Tender and Project Managers and Engineers and have the drive to enthusiastically present solutions in discussions with potential (internal) Clients. You have strong analytical skills, a creative and solution-oriented approach and the ability to keep ‘the big picture’ in mind and think ahead. In addition, you bring the following:
- a minimum Bachelor degree, preferably Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering; - strong interest in mechanical systems; - good ability to work within a (tender) team, but also to work independently - investigative, creative, structured and flexible approach to work; - experience with estimating and preparing dredging works is an advantage; - excellent command of the English language - willingness to work on projects all over the world.

We offer

We offer you a position in which you will have an important contribution to our mission 'building a better world for future generations'. In addition, we offer you:

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;
  • Additional allowances for working on board / on project locations abroad;
  • Travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home office allowance (€2,15 per day);
  • 32 leave days per year;
  • Variable bonus;
  • Pension scheme;
  • Collective health insurance (optional);
  • Flexible working from home policy, 2 days a week when working on a full-time basis;
  • Extensive learning and (personal) development possibilities, including a wide range of online courses via Goodhabitz;
  • You can join communities, like Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women and the Van Oord staff association;
