In 2023, Prysmian achieved sales of over €15 billion.

At our Eindhoven site, we provide customers worldwide with glass and fiber optic products, ensuring the essential supply of information. Our specialty is the production of multimode optical fiber for data and telecom in a high-tech production environment in Eindhoven.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven hands-on Production Manager to lead the startup phase of a cutting-edge innovation within a legacy factory site owned by a global industrial leader. This startup is pioneering artisanal, high-tech fiber technologies, requiring a unique blend of scientific expertise, operational rigor, and entrepreneurial spirit. Once the startup phase is complete, the role will evolve into Production Manager, responsible for scaling and industrializing the solution, integrating it into the existing plant infrastructure, and driving output and quality improvements. This individual will also serve as a safety leader, ensuring that all operations meet the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance. The role requires regular stakeholder meetings and collaboration with external parties, including suppliers, partners, and technical experts.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Phase:

  • Lead the setup and execution of a novel fiber production line, including cleanroom and laboratory environments.
  • Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and operations to translate artisanal processes into scalable production workflows.
  • Manage infrastructure readiness, equipment commissioning, and process validation.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing technical team.
  • Implement robust production planning and resource allocation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and cleanroom standards.
  • Act as a key liaison between the startup team and the broader factory organization.
  • Serve as a safety leader, promoting a culture of safety and ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations.
  • Organize and lead meetings with internal stakeholders and external collaborators to align on project goals and execution.

Transition to Production Management:

  • Own full-scale production operations, driving output, quality, and efficiency.
  • Optimize processes for industrial scalability while preserving product integrity.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across production, quality, and supply chain.
  • Manage shift systems, workforce planning, and performance metrics.
  • Oversee purchasing and vendor coordination for materials and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanroom discipline and laboratory standards.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Continue to lead safety initiatives and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration with external partners and internal teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Management, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Proven experience in project management, production operations, and industrialization, ideally in cleanroom or laboratory settings.
  • Strong understanding of process optimization, production planning, and team development.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multicultural teams in high-pressure environments.
  • Experience in hiring, training, and technical onboarding.
  • Familiarity with purchasing, vendor management, and technical sourcing.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • High energy, proactive mindset, and resilience in dynamic environments.
  • Proven commitment to safety leadership and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to lead stakeholder meetings and manage external collaborations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with fiber optics, chemical processing, advanced materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of ISO cleanroom standards and laboratory safety protocols.
  • Fluency in Dutch and English; Spanish is a strong plus.
