Postdoc in the Economics of Climate Policy

Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Economics of Climate Policy with a strong background in applied microeconometrics. The position is part of the NWO Vidi grant for the project “Climate policy for heterogeneous firms”. This project uses economic theory and Dutch firm-level data to study the heterogeneous repercussions of climate policies for firms. As a postdoc, your primary focus will be on applied microeconometric analysis, contributing valuable empirical insights to the project.

Wat ga je doen?

Your key tasks will include:

  • using firm-level data and advanced microeconometric methods to assess the impact of climate policy;
  • presenting results at seminars (internally and externally), workshops and conferences;
  • engaging as an active member of the research team and department;
  • a limited amount of teaching and/or thesis supervision.

You will work closely with the PI, Inge van den Bijgaart, and Giacomo Domini.

Wat breng je mee?

You bring the following qualifications:

  • completed a PhD in Economics (or due to complete in 2025), preferably environmental economics;
  • high motivation and a demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality empirical research;
  • strong expertise in applied microeconometrics;
  • experience working with large datasets, preferably firm-level data;
  • the ability to independently carry out research, and effectively collaborate in a team;
  • strong communication skills.

  • a position for 24 months, starting September 2025;
