The role

Are you an experienced leader in structural engineering, ready to guide a multidisciplinary team in delivering world-class naval projects? Damen Naval in Vlissingen is seeking a Senior Team Lead Structures to ensure high-quality engineering processes and effective team management throughout the project lifecycle. Key accountabilities

As Senior Team Lead Structures at Damen Naval, your responsibilities will include:

• Lead and coach a medium to large multidisciplinary structures engineering team.
• Oversee structures engineering in complex projects during basic engineering and/or manage outsourced packages during detailed engineering phases.
• Support the building yard during the production support phase on structural aspects.
• Manage team resource planning, day-to-day work, and short- and medium-term planning.
• Establish a work breakdown and planning structure for tasks within the discipline.
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality structures engineering deliverables and services.
• Actively foster multi-disciplinary collaboration to achieve optimal project solutions.
• Ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and norms, and harmonize efforts with other discipline Team Leads.
• Supervise and validate engineering output in line with Damen Naval standards.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing, monitor developments, and implement best practices within the team.
• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and subcontractors.
• Lead project planning, execution, design, and gate reviews to meet project requirements.
• Perform design verifications and technical analyses of team deliverables and vendor offers.
• Contribute to employee appraisals and departmental knowledge transfer.
• Drive continuous improvement of departmental processes.

Skills & experience

Damen Naval is looking for candidates for the position of Senior Team Lead Structures with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor or Master degree with at least seven years of relevant experience in structures engineering, preferably in ships or offshore installations.
• Proven experience in structures engineering, preferably in naval projects, involving collaboration with vendors, statutory bodies, and subcontractors.
• Broad expertise in engineering concepts and practices and proficiency in 2D and 3D PLM tools, ideally 3DX.
• Demonstrated success in leading small to mid-size engineering teams.
• Fluent in Dutch and English both written and verbal.
• Key competencies: customer results and quality orientation, teamwork, behavioural flexibility, leadership, coaching, planning, and organizing and initiative.
• Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
