Do you want all the benefits of working for a large international organisation combined with the personal approach of a project solid team on board of our state-of-the-art equipment? Then read about what Van Oord can offer you.

THE POSITION

For our sea-going fleet, we are looking for a Ship Electronics Engineer to work on a 5-weeks on/off rotation. You will be working on one of our modern offshore vessels, such as a cable laying vessel, fall pipe vessel, or a jack-up wind installation vessel. You will encounter a wide range of electrical and automation systems to keep you challenged. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, you will maintain and optimize the electrical systems on board, ensuring that the ship’s administration related to the electrical systems is up to date and compliant with Van Oord standards, such as the ship's logbook and daily reports.

YOUR IMPACT

As a Ship Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical processes on board, preparing for major maintenance and modifications by drawing up a modifications list and discussing it with the Chief Engineer. Depending on the size and complexity of the equipment, you may work solo or with a colleague in the same field of expertise. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and optimizing electrical systems on board in coordination with the Chief Engineer.
  • Preparing for major maintenance and modifications by drafting a modification list.
  • Ensuring that the ship’s electrical system administration, including the logbook, is up to date.
  • Collaborating with fellow engineers or working independently based on the equipment’s complexity.

YOUR WORKPLACE

Van Oord offers a high-demanding, dynamic, and international work environment. You will work aboard state-of-the-art offshore vessels, where teamwork and innovation are at the core of daily operations. We value a pleasant working environment with a focus on collaboration and safety.

ABOUT YOU

You are flexible, stress-resistant, and able to work independently. You bring strong technical skills and are a team player who thrives in a challenging environment. You have:

  • An intermediate or higher vocational qualification in Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
  • Preferably a seaman’s book, valid medical certification, and an STCW Basic Safety certificate.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as an Electrician or in a similar role, preferably in maritime or industrial automation.
  • Knowledge of network systems, communication/survey/navigation systems, and remote system connections.
  • Good PLC and network experience.
  • Specific knowledge of equipment such as ROVs, offshore cranes, cable lay installations, or LNG as fuel is an advantage.
  • Permission to work within EU countries.

WE OFFER YOU

Van Oord provides an international, challenging work environment where you can have a real impact on the business, people, and environment. We offer an attractive employment package, including:

  • A competitive salary that matches your responsibilities and experience.
  • The opportunity to join an informal, motivated team on board our vessels, where collaboration and a pleasant working environment are central.
  • Numerous opportunities for personal and professional development.
“The vessels are state-of-the-art. You're always working on exciting projects, and on top of that, you're with a stable, reliable employer!”
